16 ounce bottle into imperial pint glass, bottled 3/29/2012. Pours crystal clear extremely dark reddish brown color with a nice 1-2 finger fairly dense khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of chocolate, caramel, roasted malt, molasses, toffee, raisin, toast, nuttiness, and light herbal. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity. Taste of chocolate, caramel, toast, toffee, molasses, raisin, roasted malt, nuttiness, light coffee, biscuit, earthiness, and herbal spiciness. Light herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, toffee, molasses, roasted malt, toast, raisin, nuttiness, and herbal on the finish for a good bit. Nice balance and complexity of flavors; nicely robust with zero cloying after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a creamy and lightly slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice schwarzbier! Nicely robust with good balance and complexity of flavors; very smooth to drink. Really enjoyed this one.

As far as schwarzbiers go, this is pretty decent. Fully roasted nose as expected with moderate burnt coffee notes. Drinks similar with a slight sweetness to the finish. I dig it for sure. Lighter medium body but totally drinkable.

Pitch black, medium head, ultra smooth with malty coffee backdrop. The beer is a couple years old and very nicely aged.

12 oz bottle. Pours a dark brown/near black with light passing as light brown hues. Head leaves slight lacing. Aroma is malt and cereal, and a hint of roast complexity. Flavor is slightly bitter chocolate, with a touch of molasses. Nice.

Beerenberger (1377) - Fischer, Texas, USA - MAR 18, 2014
Roasted meat, sweet fruit, with hints of chocolate and carmel fill the nose. A mostly black pour with a quickly disappearing tan head and no lacing. The palate finds roasted malts, pears, smokey notes, and hints of grain and coffee in the finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. In conclusion, a very nice and tasty Schwarzbier.

500 ml bottle in Pompano Beach FL. Pours a Black color with a ruby hue. Has a fine dark tan head. Aroma is coal, coffee and bread. Taste is mellow and clear but like the aroma. Palate is smooth. If you were to tell be that this was a new beer in Franken Germany I would have believed you. But to see a US brewery make one like this is unheard of. Fantastic effort and a Great Schwarzbier!!!!!

Pours black with ruby edging and a thick mocha head that settles to a thick ring leaving some soapy lace. Nose involves coffee, chocolate, clean roast, earthy and minty hops. Fairly sweet, decently bitter. Medium bodied, fairly active, toasty, lightly oily, finishing dry. Good brew, substantial and tasty.
