BelgianBeerGal (977), Sabbatical in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Jun 8, 2008 Bottled. Great Schwarzbier. Pours out clear black with a small tan head than dissolves into a ring. Busy aroma of smoke, chocolate, malt and some coffee. Very easy to drink with a mild, roasted flavour. Not overpowering at all.
DrDavid (350), Johnson, Vermont, USA Oct 8, 2008 (Bottle). Aroma is sweet and complex, lots of malt, roastiness, some chocolate. Deep dark reddish-black body, creamy tan head. Flavor a delicious blend of chocolate, malt, light roastiness. Dry finish. Superb. Gryffyn (12), , New York, USA Oct 3, 2008 I love this beer. It has a color of dark chocolate along with a coffee/chocolate aroma. Not bitter at all, in fact it has a touch of sweetness that leaves a lingering taste of cocoa powder on the palate. Just delightful. darn1207 (329), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Sep 29, 2008 just happened across this as something different in a mix six pack from liquor loft here in tally. nice little find. black pour with a smallish creamy tan head and light bubbly lacing. aroma of dark fruits and caramel. rich creamy medium body. lightly sweet roasted malts and dark bitter chocolate in the taste. smooth and drinkable. slightly acidic and tart on the aftertaste. haven’t had many schwarzbiers to compare it to - but all around interesting. rgrady3 (7), Minnesota, USA does not count Sep 28, 2008 Pours dark brown with a light brown head that starts big and settles to a thin froth. Nose is full of roasted malt. On the first sip the roasted malt is pleasant and not overpowering, continuing with an almost creamy flavor/texture, a touch of nuttiness and very mild coffee flavor. Drinks smooth with small bubbles. Finish is smooth and refreshing. This one would be perfect to enjoy with a roast, and would even work to cook with. timsilvia32 (249), from Michigan now in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA Sep 21, 2008 Clear black pour. Slight brown head that dissappated fairly quickly. Pretty good roast malty aroma. Good roast flavors, malt, nut, some coffee. A bit of poundcake or something like that to make it solid medium bodied. Soft mouthfeel almost creamy. Roastiness lingers in the finish. Has hints of stout/porter, but is neither all together. A good black beer and very drinkable.
