2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
22oz bottle. Nice thin brown head, leaving good lace. Black color with particles visible suspended in the body. Smooth carbonation, very dry finish. Spicy hops. Toasted, almost burnt malt aroma is prominent. Little roasted toasty coffee bean. Chocolate. Pretty bitter taste. Pretty interesting black IPA, but not exactly the tastiest, and a low drinkability is holding it back. Thin, quite spicy, and too dry to be drinkable. I should have shared this bomber, I couldn’t finish the last bit.

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
This was just nasty. There aren’t many beers out there that I loathe to drink, but this one made this list. It had done nasty, acrid, bitter profile that was like drinking a good black ipa out of an ash tray inside of a shoe. Pretty? Most definitely. Tasty? No way in hell.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
bottle, from Triangle Wine, has number in gold on back of 11350, looks hand written. ok aroma, roasty, little wet cardboard, roasted malt, minor grapefruit scent. weak overall. dark orangy brown color, small head, spotty lace. bitter sweet flavor, medium body, creamy mouthfeel, bitter finish. meh, aroma weak, flavor is bitter, but largely uninteresting.

3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured from stealth bomber - nice spicy hops; waited for some malts for balance, but they never came. 1-dimensional brew that was not terrible.

2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle - pour looks like cola - seems more like a dry, hoppy porter than a black IPA - thin body, watery texture and finish - some dry mineral notes - a fair amount of roast - herbal, woody hops - a bit of a metallic note in the finish - meh.

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
SAmple at Sprechers in Lake Geneva. Lacks the IPA / hoppy nose, taste is also too mild for a good IPA....thin...not the best by far.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bomber poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lasting tan head and goodlacing. Aromas of roastiness, charcoal, grapefruit, pine and light liucorice. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of roastiness, charcoal, grapefruit and a hint of pine with a crisp dry bitter lingering roasty finish.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Discount Liquors (Milwaukee, WI). Acquired on the last trip up. Getting towards the end of the rates from Wisco. Pours a rich deep brown hue, dark and near blackish, offering ruby brown glow on the edges, bottom, and some parts of the body. Dark but not hazy/opaque. Offering a healthy brown head atop, a good thick film sits atop and laces ok. Sticks around ok. Aromas are touches of toast and roast, some cocoa moving quickly into florals and a firm hopping, touches of grapefruit. Some thick sweeter toffee and caramel jump in. Biscuity and touches of cocoa. Initial is lighter end of medium bodied, offering a firm bitterness up front. Good dose of florals, some citrus, and dry pine. A touch of mellow creamy mouthfeel hits at times, some cocoa, biscuits and toffee, the beer is much less sweet than the nose let on, and firmly bitter into the finish. Piney and floral, staying away from much citrus, roasty and toasty elements linger. Perhaps a bit thin is one of my main impressions. Flavors are ok but gets a bit harsh without the flavorful and enjoyable citrusy bitterness. A bitter Black Ale it is, well hopped but earthy in it’s drive. Weaker aroma, a bit thin, but the flavors are solid and the appearance is quite striking. A mixed bag that overall, was better than expected in my opinion.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber from Bruisin’ Ales. Pours dark brown with a creamish beige head. Nice hoppy aroma. Resin? Some underlying burnt malt. Med minus body. Flavor seems resin to me, but the burnt malt renders that uncertain for me. Anyway, there are two sources of bitter - hops/malt - and it finishes pretty dry and quite bitter. I’m thinking this is way underrated. Maybe it should be relabeled as a hoppy stout. :)
