Bottle. Chocolate, smoky prune/dark fruits, caramel, and light coffee aroma. Black brown with a small dark tan head. Roasty coffee, chocolate, light licorice, sweet dark fruit flavor. Medium body, soft carbonation. Solid, but not incredibly complex.

12oz. bottle. Aroma of dried fruit, dark, roasty malt, semi-sweet chocolate, raisin and cherry, some background sweetness present here as well. Utterly black in color with a very slight, fading head. Flavor profile is full of dark chocolate, prune and malt roast, with lighter notes of toffee and vanilla, mild-moderate hop bitterness, and a coffeeish finish. Smooth and gently warming on the palate with low effervescence and a full body. Interesting and tasty.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a tulip glass. Pours an inky blank, with a medium off-white head which quickly fades, leaving fair lacing. Nose is burnt malt and coffee. Taste is coffee and dark malt, with a mild hop finish which nicely cuts the sweetness. Well made.

Dark pour with tan head. Aroma is sweet molasses and dark fruit. Taste Smokey dark fruit with.light chalky feel.

This pours a very dark brown color with a slight head. The aroma is mild with sweet malts and sugars. The flavor has a sweet malty taste that finishes a little chalky. There is also a little bit of a alcohol burn in the finish. Pretty decent stuff.

Black pour. Big tan head, but I did force it a bit. It does stay for a bit once there though. Little bit of lacing. Molasses and dark fruit aroma. Slight caramel and vanilla. Chocolate and malt taste. Creamy finish. Nice beer.

A bit heavy on the carbonation. Nose has a fairly alcoholic character for a beer clocking in this low for an RIS. Flavors of berries, cocoa, a dusting of coffee grinds, but a bit alcoholic in the finish and not clean by any stretch. Has some decent flavors going on and is certainly drinkable but a bit of a disappointment since I really love Black Bavarian.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a medium, well retained mocha head, with extensive lacing, over a black (SRM 40) body......nose is coffee, cocoa, chocolate, with minimal hop spice....taste is coffee, cocoa, chocolate, light toffee/caramel, hints of sweetness, vanilla, cherry, with light hop bitterness near the finish....mouth feel heavy of medium, slightly sticky, carbonation adds a heavy, almost ice cream creaminess, but finishes with a nice acid finale. This is a nicely complex, well balanced Imperial. It is not the best in complexity and is reminiscent of the more English Imperial Stouts. BJCP 8/3/15/5/8

UPDATED: JUL 17, 2013 Almost black medium brown head, lasting with streaks of drippy lace. Aroma is Roasty, chocolate, touch of dark fruit. Flavor is much the same. Roasty and sweet. Full but not ’big’ body. Good overall mouthfeel, soft, roasty and a little sticky, some sweetness. Very nice balance. Rather impressive.
