Bottle. Pours a clear copper with minimal head. Aroma of bourbon and light caramel. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel with a mild amount of bitterness and heavy bourbon finish. Good.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Courtesy boboski. Light copper color with a thin soapy head. Moderate peat and smoke aroma with a mild dose of alcohol. Surprsingly light palate, a tad undercarbonated. Taste is underwhelming - a bit too sweet with some smokiness on the back end. Smells better than it itastes.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
35 oz big boy bottle. Purchased at Holiday Wine Cellar. This poured as a gloomy and dusty medium brown color and was topped by a small layer of foam. The aroma is a sweet nose of caramel and malt with a noticeable scent of cut wood. The flavor is a strong delivery of molasses syrup, oak wood, caramel malt, and scotch whiskey. To much heat and flavors for me to truly enjoy and relax with this beer so I will give it an average rating for that.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Nearly fully diminishing light beige/cream colored head, fat-bubbled and thick initially. The body is dark amber with ruby red hues, oily. It’s actually very, very pretty. Huge smoked beechwood, bourbon and peated malt notes ar foremost in the aroma. Black pepper and hot red peppers are next, then bready and doughy malts, and sweet candied caramel appleskins(hints of acetydehyde). Also noted are vanilla, nuts(macadamia, almond, walnut), cherry and apricot; the complexity is indisputable. Even though this is flawedand loaded with ethanol it is fun to sniff away at and analyze. the flavor is a subdued state of the aforementioned, with a wacky, looming addition of rootbeer soda. Smoke, then peat, are most dominant. Medium-high sweetness, low bitterness and low acidity seem on par for the style. The palate is boring but inoffensive with low but prickly carbonation and a medium to medium-full body. Very smooth, finishes sticky. The barrel aging provides a substantial departure from the characters of the base beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a nice deep amber color.Has a nice nose of smoke and caramel. The flavor had the caramel coming out with some vanilla. Some smoke was on the backend as was a slight hint of sourness. The finish still had the alcohol hidden well, but was slightly dry.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Courtesy boboski. Pours a slightly hazy amber red with a bubbly light tan head. Sweet candy sugar aroma, sweet molasses, bourbon, a little must. The flavor was pretty mild actually, the bourbon seemed subdued and a little thin palated. Some new flavors seem to show up though, vanilla and maybe some sweet grapes or other sweet fruits. Seems as though this has really mellowed out. I’d say its just about average. Although the 9.5% seemed to be pretty well masked.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A solid Scotch ale ruined by bourbon. At least the bourbon is light and not the dominant characteristic. It does however, overwhelm the malt and smoke in the aroma. Flavor is light malt, lacking fruit or vinous qualities that I like from a Scotch ale. It does have sweet malt and smoke. This was a little sour and I’m not sure if it is intended to be so or not, but it still tasted OK.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle… RBSG 07… Murky caramel-colored ale with a small, fizzy, off-white head. The aroma provides vanilla and bourbon with hints of caramel, dark fruit and vinous notes. Earthy, sweet flavors of dark fruit, caramel malt, smoked peat and Scotch whiskey. Full-bodied with a thick, dry mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Boozy, cotton candy-sweet and then bone dry finish
