3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Nothing special. Poured a very mirky brown with a minamal head that dissipated quickly. Aroma had a few notes with bourbon, wet wood, ash and some malt. On the tongue you get sweet malt followed by some bourbon and finishing with a smoked dry finish. Mouthfeel is medium with a little too much carbonation.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This pours a murky brown color with a slight head. The aroma is full of oak and is boozy. The taste is sweet, malty, and extremely well-balanced. The aging in bourbon oak barrels add a nice depth to the taste to the brew that isn’t very powerful. Very nicely made that seems a little under-rated to me.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A really nice scotch ale. Lots of bourbon notes in this. Caramel too. Peat and booze in the aroma and flavour. Very nice.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bourbon nose with heavy hints of molasses and brown sugar. The taste follows the nose but with more alcohol. Very burning on the tongue. Long finish.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
2014 bottle. A mucky brown color with some orange highlights and very little off-white head. The aroma is very grainy with some plum and prunes. The alcohol comes through on the nose, as well as a little bourbon. The taste is pretty much like the nose with quit a bit of residual sweetness. Maybe it's my predilection for Sprechers Root Beer but I get a hint of that as well. Some yeast ones as well. Has a fairly thin, well carbonated mouthfeel with a little sting.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Rays in Tosa. Hazy brown pour with no head. Aroma has butterscotch bourbon with some peat, later some berry. Taste is heavy sweet malt, butterscotch, vanilla and light fruit. Lowly carbonated, medium bodied, with alcohol. Finishes bourbon-y, sweet malty. Perhaps a bit old? For a bourbon scotch ale, a good example - perhaps a bit bourbon-y. 13.8

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a hazy dark copper with a small light tan head with little lacing. Aroma of toasted malt, vanilla, some dark fruit and bourbon. Taste of caramel with prominent vanilla, some toasted malt and moderate dark fruit. A little smoke and good amount of warming bourbon. Finishes with some vanilla/caramel malt and that warming alcohol. Light/ medium bodied with moderate/high carbonation. Clean and prominent flavors with a nice taste.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
1 liter flip top bottle from backlog notes. Pours a dark amber color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma has caramel malts, dark fruit, and some oak character as expected, but also has a tart sour character like something has gone wrong, I wanted to like this.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hmmm.... interesting brew from a brewer not know for their heavy stuff. This wee heavy is not great, but it does pack a nice balanced punch. Considering this thing weighs in at 11%, it is dangerous. serving size: 22oz bottle.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a hazy deep copper color with a modest off-white head. Aroma has a light caramel malt nose but is quickly followed up by a musty dark fruitiness and a modest amount of vanilla and light bourbon imparted from the barrel aging. Flavor starts off with a smokey, caramel note first which quick transitions to a bourbon and vanilla character. Finish is slightly hot with alcohol creeping in. Body is modest with sharp alcohol bite and a bit of tongue puckering from the high alcohol. Overall an okay beer. The bourbon in this bottle is drowning out a lot the scotch ale flavors you would normally find.
