Ok Scotch Ale. Peat, earthy, and caramel flavors. Finishes sticky and chewy.

I tried this over the Holidays. I enjoyed it more than others here. I like the twinge of medicine that comes with peat smoked malt. It lacked any character from the bourbon barrel, though - must have spent very little time on it.

UPDATED: OCT 21, 2007 The aroma is fantastic with bourbon, oak, caramel, and smoke. The appearance is red brown with a thin head. The flavor is like the aroma with a buttery flavor and a fairly strong punch. The palate is slightly oily. Overall this is a great beer.

Dark hazy reddish brown with a thin tan head. Aroma of toffee, sweet malt and bourbon. Taste of sweet malt, toffee, bourbon and mild alcohol. Usually I hate these bourbon things, but this one was passable as the bourbon wasn’t overpowering.

Pour is brown with a thin tan head...lightly oaky and smokey sweet nose...flavor is lightly sweet and smokey, but seemed almost like it didn’t taste like anything...

Tap at Hop Devil Grill. Clear amber beer, thick off-white head. Aroma is sweet and full of vanilla and demerara sugar. Soft sweet caramel flavour up front, toffee and loads of oaky bourbon. Sweet vanilla, slightly earthy hop flavour as well. Peppery and the body seems a little hot and thin for the style. A bit too bourbon-dominated for my tastes, but it’s still quite good.

Blind tasting at Papsø’s
Hazy dark amber color. Malty aroma, with vanilla oak. Woody caramel flavor, dryish, but mostly alcoholic, with an underlying sourness. The final is quite dry, still with traces of vanilla, with a lightly astringency. A bit too chaotic.

Bottle… RBSG 07… Murky caramel-colored ale with a small, fizzy, off-white head. The aroma provides vanilla and bourbon with hints of caramel, dark fruit and vinous notes. Earthy, sweet flavors of dark fruit, caramel malt, smoked peat and Scotch whiskey. Full-bodied with a thick, dry mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Boozy, cotton candy-sweet and then bone dry finish
