22oz bottle. Clear, copper color, light tan fizz. Aroma of old malt, vanilla, definitely oak in the nose. Butter toffee flavor, sweet malt. Tastes old, oxidation flavors. Pretty strong. (3599)

Shared bomber, poured to snifters showing a dark brown color, with a modest layer of light tan head foam, and spotty lacing. The nose was sweet & malty, with notes of caramel & molasses, a touch of dark grape, some peat, and ready alcohol. Medium bodied, with low carbonation, the flavor carried over similar notes, showed some warmth, but produced a bit of medicinal taste, with the texture thinning out toward the finish. An okay wee heavy.

No date on bottle, aged over a year at least. Pours a dark ruby red amber. Small, partly pasty, wispy tan head with good lace. Aroma finds smooth bourbon, oak, vanilla, some dark fruits, toffee,..sweet. Flavor adds some peat. Lighter Medium body. Still well carbonated. Pleasant alcohol warming, probably taken off a bit by the age. Light smokiness. Bit of sour woodiness in the middle. Bourbon barrel character compliments. Nose and initial taste are the highlights. Backend and finish leave me wanting. A bit watery.

Aged for at least a year. Strong alcohol, oak, vanilla, roasty, malty aroma. Decent sized white head that disappears rather quickly. Taste is similar. Very malty, roasty, alcohol. A slight alcohol burn at the end but fairly smooth.

Tap at brewery. Dark pour with tan head. Smells of smoke and dark malts. Too much smoke in the flavor. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Really nice scotch ale. Deep orange/brown pour with little to no head. Aroma is peat, very light smoke, strong caramel and malt notes. Flavor is deep caramel, malt and a bare hint of smoke. Nicely balanced. Good.

Hazy, muddy brown and ruby tinted body with a very thin, oily tan head and almost no movement at all. Aroma of huge amounts of oak, scotch, whiskey, brandy, cognac, rye and a ton of sugars - pungent, for sure. Full-bodied; Strong whiskey and brandy flavours throughout with some pit fruit notes, a little raisin, some earthy malt and a dry oaky finish, but the alcohol notes are by far the strongest. Aftertaste shows the warmth of a scotch or brandy with a hint of sugars, a lot of oak and dryness, a tiny yeast note and a lot more alcohol kick. Overall, a super pungent beer that is perhaps a bit too much like a scotch or brandy than a beer - but if thats what you want, then definitely try this beer. Its a bit too strong for me, but definitely too strong, considering this is a 65 cL bottle. A well put together beer, but a bit too strong and too large. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Discount Liqour in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on 05-September-2012 for US$13.99 sampled just over a year later at home in Washington on 14-September-2013.

Copper colored pour with an off-white head. Nose is smokey and peaty with some chocolate, vanilla, and dark fruit. Sweet caramel and brown sugar, and certainly some alcohol. The flavor is smokey and boozy. Caramel, dark fruit, and brown sugar sweetness. Light vanilla and chocolate.

Bottle. Pours a hazy and very dark amber color a small off-white head. Nose is extremely malty with an alcohol kick - almost like a barley wine. Taste is much the same - strong alcohol notes with a slight malty sweet undertone. Not what I expected, and not a huge fan.

Nothing special. Poured a very mirky brown with a minamal head that dissipated quickly. Aroma had a few notes with bourbon, wet wood, ash and some malt. On the tongue you get sweet malt followed by some bourbon and finishing with a smoked dry finish. Mouthfeel is medium with a little too much carbonation.
