4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Courtesy Degarth. He strikes again. Sweet looking liter bottle, appropriate and bold for an Imp Stout. Very, very dark black body with brown at the far edges. Creamy, rocky mocha colored head that lasts for quite a long time. Plenty of lacing coats the side of the glass as well. Impressive looking beer. Bourbon, woody/earthy notes, bitter dark chocolate, dark fruits, licorice and coffee grounds make up the huge aromatic bouquet. Flavor is somewhat of a tiny letdown after the aroma, but still very well done, and gets better and better as the beer warns. Dark chocolate, roasted/charred malts and beans, prunes and liquor soaked sweetbread. Creamy, very full mouthfeel. No heat from the bourbon is apparent, which is very nice. Woody/earthy finish, medium length, fading to a nice roasted bitterness. Very well done, just short of world class.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle shared at Cbus tasting by Bgburdman. Dark pour, smell was all bourbon. Taste was chocolate, coffee and bourbon. I found this one particularly bad...I am not a fan of the barrel aged craze that everyone is doing. And this one didnt seem to be done that well.

Moderately thick pour to an opaque and midnight muddy brown. Sawdust tops it off. Nose dives deep into broiled butterscotch, singed bourbony oak, caramel laced dark chocolate truffles and mocha fudge rippled with Godiva liquor. Deep stuff. Flavor affirms a prominent, balanced blend of sweet bourbon strife. Fudgie mocha morsels melt in the mouth while the bourbon sweetens its sprig. Caramel ribbons ride through French silk talc and white mocha fudge. Cocoa powder patters into the balanced delicatessen blend. Medium to fuller bodied, carefully carbonated and ever the balanced beer. Sweet milk chocolate goop cradles the sides of the oak cask as bourbon lurks at the bottom with a smooth, chocolaty milk finish.

Courtesy boboski. Very deep, dask brownish-black color. Aroma is dried cherries, treacle, a touch of vanilla and oak, slight chocolate and alcohol. Bourbon aroma is very evident. Mouthfell is almowst chewy, very big beer. Moderately roasted and bitter, the bourbon blast is very evident, not a bashful beer.

Bottle courtesy of kingpinIPA. Beautiful pour w/ a dark tan head. Bourbon, oak, and chocolate nose. Mouthfeel is a little watered-down. A little bit heavier mouthfeel and this is near perfect. Nice balance of vanilla, coconut, bourbon, oak, and chocolate flavors. Very good.

Bottle hinged top from River’s Bend. Poured a dark brown color with a moderate frothy brown head that mostly lasted and produced sticky legs and good lacing. Good dark chocolate malt and sweet woody bourbon aroma. Medium to full body with a creamy texture. Complex dark chocolate stout flavor with a smooth bourbon woody bittersweet finish of long duration. Very well balanced barrel stout.
