COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imperial Stout has been complemented by a generous bourbon flavor after aging five extra weeks in white oak bourbon barrels. Already saturated with dark roasted malt flavor, bourbon and oak highlights perfect the balance in this enormously rich ale.

Dark, but not pitch black, very little head. A smoked, oak, vanilla smell. The smoky oak comes through predominantly on the taste, salty, sweet doesn't come out till the very end with some chocolate and coffee, but its faint. Not very balanced, and the oak character is poor. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Black with a thick tan head. Dull oaky vanilla nose. Malty bourbon flavors. Less smooth than I would have figured not bitter. More sweet and soy ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sample at Sugar Maple. Deep red-brown body, thin glass rimming head. Sweet, sugary bourbon aroma. Relatively mellow and clean, the aging works pretty well here. Smooth vanilla caramel tones. Pretty pleasant.

Rich, smoky aroma has a strong overtone of oaked bourbon. It pours a deep coffee brown with a fairly thick tan head. Robust flavor has coffee, bourbon, roast malt and oak notes with hints of toffee and licorice. Texture seems on the thin side, though, especially for a stout, and fizz leaves a bit to be desired. However, the palate (or mouthfeel, or whatever) is this beer’s weakest point, and a small one at that. Definitely a beer fit for a czar.

Pours a pitch black color with a thick foamy head that last a long time. Scents of coffee, caramel, cocoa, and bourbon fume from my glass. The taste is hard to describe as it is thick, creamy, and smooth. Quite robust and yet the flavors go quite well together. Some spices and burnt sugar are also obvious. Certainly a well made, tasty beer but the value is really lacking. for half the price you can get a beer that taste just as good as this one. So while this beer is good, it’s not of the best value for your dollar.

Tap. Dark brown pour with tan head. Smells of butter and slight bourbon. I love barrel aged beers but all i got out of this one was butter. For me this was not good at all.

Bought in Oct. ’11, drank, Oct. ’12. Opaque with a slow fading coffee pillow head. Nose is spiced rum raisins, and vanilla with some molasses. Big molasses flavor along with soy, burnt malts, and wood. Thin palate. This has all the right elements, but something keeps it from being great.

Bottle thanks to hophead22. Pours with a near black body with a small tan head. Aromas are very strongly diacetyl. Little else. Butterscotch. A bit of vanilla. Flavors are a mess. Straight diacetyl, vanilla and cola. Medium bubbles, oily. Bad.

22oz bottle. Rating #102. This bottle had serious issues, nothing but butter. Drainpour. (2044)

Picked up at the Sprecher outlet. A miss for this brewery. Strong wood and bourbon aroma, but they were somehow off. Some root beer and cola in the aroma and flavor and stale smoke. However very smooth. Serving: Bottle
