COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
True in flavor to the traditionally spelled Dunkel Weizen, this medium-bodied dark wheat ale has characteristic roasted malt flavors balanced by light hops, mild carbonation, hints of spice and fruit.

Courtesy of Skyview. Dark brown color with a very thin head. Aroma of strong, dark malts, maple syrup and... bacon? Dry malt flavor. Very, very light wheat. A pinch of Noble hop bitterness. It seems more like a solid Dunkel, sans Weizen.

Clear copper with a foamy medium sized tan head that fades away moderately. Aroma of grains, malt, light caramel, wheat and banana. Taste of banana, wheat, caramel, a hint of chocolate. Comes off a bit over-carbonated, a touch aggressive on the tongue on the finish, which was a bit cola-like and a touch too sweet.

Pours dark amber with a thin creamy head. Slightly hazy. Sweet wheat aroma, somewhat chemical/plastic. Mild roasted flavor underneath a very thin wheat/malt sweetness. A little bit of a chemical taste to pair with the aroma. Slight dryness on the finish. Overall light on the mouthfeel and pretty disappointing.

Bottled. HAzy darker orange and brown with thin tan head. Aroma is banana, caramel, and wheat. Flavor is toasty and sweet throughout with only light toast and bitter taking sweet edge back a little bit.

Bottled. Poured clear, medium reddish-brown with a short-lived cap of beige head. The aroma picked up sour, vinegary-wheat notes and lemon zest first and foremost over toasted caramel, toffee, and nutty sugars.. almost like cleanser as it warmed up. The flavor was better, but not by a whole lot.. caramel, toffee, and light dry-roasted chocolate at the core with tart wheat and a faint hint of orange around.. finished tart and fruity. Light-bodied and dry on the palate.. kind of a vinegary impression.. didn’t feel good or flow well.

Picked up a single 12-oz bottle at the brewery, north of Milwaukee, WI. Pours a semi-hazy brown amber colored brew with a thin beige head that quickly dissipates to a thin off-white ring. Aroma of roasted banana, caramel and some wheat biscuit. Taste is medium bodied, with flavors of toasted biscuits, banana, grassy hops and some light chocolate. Finish has a slight metallic texture with some mild bitterness and grassy hop aftertaste that slowly disappears.

Brown color with a light tan head. Just a drip or two of yeast after the final pour. Dark caramel, banana and toasted wheat bread in the aromas. Light, nearly watery feel. Sweet start with come caramelized sugar. Toasted wheat and hints of light bitter spice. No big melanoidins, and lacks some phenols. Some iron in the finish and into the linger.

Bottle from a beer of the month club. Poured a clear dark brown with a small brown head. Aroma was weak with some roasted malts. Flavor seemed to be quite watery. I picked up some sweet roasted malts, but not much else.

Lovely iced tea brown pour with creamy beige head that dies a bit too fast. Nose of bananas and malt. Toasted malt flavor with caramel. A bit of a watery finish. Few hops. Easy drinking and one of the better Dunkle Weizens out there but...........................WHAT THE F*CK IS WITH THE 12 OUNCE BOTTLE, SPRECHER?!?!?!?!!!&# SATAN! You’ve made a deal with SATAN!!!!!!! Sprecher owes me 4 ounces, an apology, and an explanation!

12 oz. bottle from Three Cellars (yes. a 12 oz. bottle from Sprecher. I think that’s a sign of the apocalypse). Nut brown color with a slight haze and a thick, light brown head. Aroma is crisp wheat with a fruity sweetness. Flavor is spicy wheat with an earthy herbal background. Medium bodied with a short, spicy finish. Very nice. Hope Sprecher makes this more widely available.
