Commercial Description:
This coarse filtered wheat ale is fermented with a German yeast culture for a refreshingly light spiciness and hints of citrus fruit. A cloudy appearance and an immense creamy head are characteristic of this lightly hopped Bavarian brew.

Pours a slightly cloudy yellow with a pretty decent white hefe head. Aroma is sweet fruit and coriander. Taste is moderately tart with mild grapefruit and banana notes along with pale malt sweetness and spice. Smooth and drinkable. An excellent American version of a weiss!

Finally, a Sprecher that I can be enthused about say is underated, although that does not say much give the current public sentiment. This is a notch or two below my favorites in the style but better than most. Classic HW in all repects. Balance with nothing overdone.

On tap at the brewery. Cloudy golden body with medium fluffy head. Banana aroma with sweet malt and yeast. Flavor is banana and and yeast as well with not much else, a little sweet. Thin body and a little creamy. This could be better, but still kind of nice.

Pours thickly to a still appearance of murky sunshine. Golden. Head dissipates immediately and leaves no remnant. Sweet aroma of banana cream and almond cake batter, raw enough to still smell the egg, vanilla, and nut extract; seared, caramelized green apples layer the sugar insufferably. A spicy chaser of clove and mace cleans up the back end with a crisp, clean strike; soft, lightly cloying, and pleasant for the most part, although a pungent wave of acetic character and cleaning product washes through with the warmth. Flavor is pillowy and sharp at the same time, with lots of doughy honey and citrus juice withering into dried out spice and phenolic funk, whimpering with barely noticeable infection. Unsettlingly yeasty. Palate is wet and feathery, loosely carbonated, and medium in body. Soft banana sweetness in the finish, giving a lasting sweetbread coating. This is probably an example of decently high quality when very fresh; even then, it would likely be too sweet and not quite dry enough to serve its refreshing, summertime purpose.

Bottle. Aroma of banana with a light touch of clove, and perhaps lemon. Hazy golden color with tiny bubbles and a white head that flattened. Thinnish body with chewy/creamy carbonation. The flavor is banana, touch of lemon and some clove (but it could be yeast spiciness). The finish is dry, a little more banana, and some citrus in the background. Decent hefe.

16 oz. bottle in trade with ketchepillar- poured into my weizen glass- poured slightly cloudy pale golden yellow, mild carbonation, white head quickly disappeared to form a ring. Aroma of yeast with a light banana and stiff citrus note. Hits the mouth with a thin body, yeast very noticeable, tasted banana in the middle, finish is complete with a slight french vanilla note. Gotta get more of this for the horrid summers down here...

Pours a hazy golden honey with a good layer of white foam. Aroma is fruity (banana) with yeast undertones. Flavor has a definite spice and yeasty tones. A bit of clove on the palate. Medium body and carbonation. A pretty good hefe but I wish there was just a bit more kick.

Pleasantly surprised with this. Everything was true to hefe character. Quite a bit of banana. Some yeasty spice. Nice pizazzy mouthfeel.
