Commercial Description:
This coarse filtered wheat ale is fermented with a German yeast culture for a refreshingly light spiciness and hints of citrus fruit. A cloudy appearance and an immense creamy head are characteristic of this lightly hopped Bavarian brew.

Bottle. Cloudy, murky and generally hazy straw. Carries a large, durable. loose white head. Tangy aroma, almost choking. Light, sour and just god awful sour grain flavor.

Bottle. Stale grainy nose hits immediately on cap-pop but resolves into a smoother, creamer, yeast and phenol aroma. Still has that off-putting graininess, though, with allspice. Cloudy golden with strong carbonation and a big, fluffy white head. Taste is as expected, with light tart and big overtones of sourdough and citrus. Medium body is dry but tending a tad toward watery, still velvety smooth. Dry bready aftertaste. Not going to have this again, a big disappointment from one of the country’s best breweries.

Cloudy gold with big, foamy head / Nose of sour banana and spice / Traditional weizen flavors with a somewhat salami-like flavor underneath / Not much on finish / A little ungainly.

A decent hefe courtesy of Ofortuna. Pour was a cloudy gold with a nice little 1 finger head. Aroma of banana and pretty strong. Taste was tart and wheaty. Yeast in the mid gulp with great carbonation. Flavor runs a little light in the aftertaste..and strong attack on the tonsils by the bubbles. I wonder if they look like the scrubbing bubbles in that commercial....

cloudy golden yellow color, foamy whitish head. aroma is strong clove, light banana, and a very faint yeast. flavor much the same, starts with a tart-ish, dryish tangy wheat malt, a bit yeasty, light banana, and strong clove. watery finish and disappearing aftertaste.

(Bottle) Pours a yellow color with a slight haze. Good looking white head. Strong banana aroma from the yeast. This really overpowered the palate of this beer, which was pretty average. Light wheat malt in the flavor, but nothing that really stands out. I think the ’coarse filter’ takes out some of the body that separates this beer from the better examples of the style.

16 ounce bottle. Weizen glass. Pale yellow with very little head. (The smaller heads seem to be common for most Sprechers.) Aroma was yeasty with some clove and spices. The taste was sweet with notes of clove, spice, citrus and wheat bread. This is comparable with many German brewers of this style.
