Sprecher Hefe Weiss

Cloudy tan. Banana, allspice, vanilla, phenols, fluffy malts. Reminicent of Hacker.

(Savor, 16oz bottle) Medium white head atop cloudy straw body. Aroma is medium sweet, banana, clove, some bubblegum, light cardamom. Taste is medium sweet, banana cream, some clove, bubblegum. Light-medium body, light acidity, light crispness, somewhat watery.

Poured a medium and cloudy yellow color with a huge white head. Aromas of bananas, wheat, yeast and very light spices. Tastes of bananas, bubblegum, and some citrus. Smooth and creamy body. One of the better German Hefe beers I’ve had today.

Bottle... Hazy golden ale with a small, fizzy, white head. Very phenolic, estery aroma and flavor; hot apple cider with clove served up in a colonial kitchen or pre-game tailgate. Smells rustic. Smells like autumn. Smells and tastes of crisp, big-time college football with Pop Warner toffee, intramural vanilla and a touch of Keith Jackson lemon. That was a little twisted... must be that time of the year again! Medium to full-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and tingly carbonation. Spicy, sweet finish.

Lightly cloudy golden colored with a fizzy head. The flavor is very subdued, but there is a lot of clove in the aftertaste and a touch of citrus too. This could be a little more balanced and daring. Not one of Sprecher’s best.

Cloudy yellow body with a puffy white head that collapsed all too quickly. The aroma is predominantly a blending of orange and lemon scents with merely a trace of sweet malts and wheat. The palate was a bit too harshly fizzy for the style, but acceptable. The flavor’s dominated by the citric tastes, some peppery seasoning, and a bit of wheaty tartness. Some soft malts, banana, and clove finally arrive in the finish. Good for the Summer.

This seems to be a cross between a northern and a bavarian weiss. So it misses essential part of both styles. Still a good beer to quaff during a hot Summerfest night.

Bottle from Jungle Jim’s. Poured hazy yellow color with an average fizzy white head that mostly diminished with fair lacing. Moderate clove and banana and citrus aroma. Medium body with lively carbonation. Medium sweet citrus flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Drinkable smooth brew.
