COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This traditional ale was originally brewed in England for the British troops stationed in India. Double dry-hopped,it has intense hop flavors and aromas delicately balanced with a potent, yet delicious, malty sweetness.

Randy's Notes: "Our IPA is of the imperial or double style, therefore much stronger than the normal IPA's now found everywhere. It has a very balanced but different flavor than most US micro types focusing on more on malt and hop balance where CA IPA's emphasize massive hop aroma and bitterness."

Editor's Note: also known as IPA2 Double IPA.

Aroma is under arms but the appearance is perfect. Taste is probably like licking an underarm after deodorant on... aromatic on the tongue bitter unpleasant. good on palate with some biting notes. Overall not a dumper but not good.

Pours a clear copper color with a small white head that diminished pretty quickly. Average spotty lacing on the way down. The nose carries bread and caramel along with some light citrus and pine hops. Quite boozy as well. The flavor is mostly bready with a bit of hop flavor and also quite a bit of booze. The booze is finally balance in the mouthfeel with a pretty good amount of bitterness. Medium body with average carbonation and a dry finish. Decent enough, though not something I’d grab again.

Draft. Tangerine malt and grapefruit peel aroma. Golden yellow with small head. Sweet orange malt and moderately strong grapefruit peel flavor. Nice balance.

12oz bottle from Kroger in Grandview: copper orange pour with thin white head. aroma of sweet candy caramel, grapefruit. tastes are grassy, floral, tinny, spice, caramel malts, citrus. fairly aggressive bitter - but evenly. little dry. oily medium palate.

bottle @ Jungle Jim’s / Eastgate OH --- Hazy amber brown color, solid rocky 2" ivory head, globs and streaks of lace. Aroma of malt and hops. Taste is somewhat sweet malt that adds strong floral hops on the swallow, both parts moving through a medium finish. Sprecher’s claim of "massive" hop bitterness isn’t backed up by the brew, but it is a solid traditional IPA.

Bottle shared at a tasting. Pours a hazy orange with a large frothy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of toffee, floral, citrus hops and pale malt. The taste is bitter citrus hops, pale malt. Thin bodied, astringent, lingering bitterness.

A great double. This is all about the hops. Nice dank bitterness in the aromas and flavors. Excellent.

An amber colored beer, cloudy with average carbonation. Has a dense white head. I smell a caramel malt around with a very sutle earthy hop bouqet. A nicely balanced brew of caramel malts and earthy hops maybe a bit herbal too. A medium body beer. Doesn’t match up well to the label. I find this beer really to be lacking flavor. I expected more of a flavor wallop. All in all it’s pretty good.

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear bright copper with lasting wisp of white head. Aroma is oxidized hops, and overpowering malts. Flavor is intense with notes of rusted metal. Malt is not very present. Overall unbalanced. Sat on the shelf for 3.5 months, I’d love to try this fresh.

On tap at the Wisconsin Dells Sprecher location. Listed as "IPA²" at 7.5% abv. Very dark red-brown with a minuscule white head that is mostly diminishing. Heavily caramel nose atop pine needles, toasted grains, very light coffee. Rather heavy bitterness with little malt backbone.
