Commercial Description:
This traditional ale was originally brewed in England for the British troops stationed in India. Double dry-hopped,it has intense hop flavors and aromas delicately balanced with a potent, yet delicious, malty sweetness.

Randy's Notes: "Our IPA is of the imperial or double style, therefore much stronger than the normal IPA's now found everywhere. It has a very balanced but different flavor than most US micro types focusing on more on malt and hop balance where CA IPA's emphasize massive hop aroma and bitterness."

Editor's Note: also known as IPA2 Double IPA.

The aroma, the first sniff just did not sit right. Too much malt in this premium IPA. Perhaps I am just used to the west coast style IPA. This beer just left a nasty finish. Not enough hops in this IPA!

1liter bottle from Windy City Liquor. Pours a lightly hazed burnt orange color, with a big fluffy off white head. Nose was fairly weak with notes of citrus, pine and a bit grassy. Flavor had heavy malt presence and was fairly bitter, definitely of the east coast style. Not the best IIPA in the world, very underrated, not so bad as to be in the bottom 5%.

Under the Sprecher IPA2 label, into a pint glass. Caramel malts waft up even on the pour, and are super-present on further sniffs. Not much hops on it at all. Hops are equally restrained in the flavor, not the big citrusy or flowery hops you’ll get out West. Very much in the British tradition, earthy and dirty, with the hops mostly there for bitterness (and it’s quite bitter, ramping up slowly in the finish until it dominates). Dry. They definitely achieved what Randy says in his "notes." Nice caramel malt sweetness, a little bit of corn, and then the hops just take over. I wonder what the IBUs are. Nice level of carbonation, a good presage to the hops bitterness. Good beer, but I have to say, I like the CA IIPAs better.

I love Sprecher beer but this was a let down. A strange, stale fruity aroma emerged when I opened the bottle. The nose could not complement the body which tried for a serious beer flavour but wound up im a quagmire of foul smellgin funk,

This is one of the worst UUPA’s I have had. Nose of rotton fruit with a flavor that seemed to compliment the nose. I couldn’t drink much, so my rating is a bit subjective to what I smelled and sensed.

No this was a let down. Pour was a copper with a large whtie head. Aroma is hard to detect with an ever so slight hop presence. Flavor is not much better but i get more of caramel malt then any hops. If your going to make a beer called IPA2 you better hop the carp out of it.
