Bottle pours an amber brown with a creamy beige head that laces down in patches. Fruity dark malts come off first but with a swirl strong smoked peat notes that are meaty and inviting. Dark fruits peat earthy toasted and smoked malts. Bitter and sweet. On the sweet side but the strong smoked peat makes for a solid brew.

16oz. bottle from VBM. Pours a dark, hazy ruby red body with a medium off white head. Aroma is sweet caramel malts, with some light chocolate, alcohol and candy scents. Fuller bodied, smooth with good carbonation. Flavor is dark fruits, not too sweet, hops, toasted malts. Alcohol can slightly be felt, but a great warming feeling. Became even better as it warmed. Good beer.

Quite tasty. Sweet maltiness as initial taste with a good burn going down. Imagine this would go down good in the winter time.

Bottled, courtesy Narnad. Murky brown with tints of orange and red. Light brown head is tiny, falling to a thin ring. Huge caramel aroma - wow - rounded out with chocolate malts and the faintest smoke. Caramel flavor - moderately sweet - is balanced with some slightly tangy grain notes (straw), subtle smoke, a little oak. Finish is a touch thin, although this is where I pick up the most smoke. I personally found the carbonation level a touch high and a bit distracting. Would never guess this is a 8%+ ABV beer.

Had on tap after a tour of the brewpub. It was sweet and smokey like it should be... and there was something odd about it.

Bottle. Pours a brune amber body with a tan creamy head. Lighter smoked malt, chewy caramel and a lightly smoky etoh warming. Toasted malt with a slightly salt y warming to finish. Decent.

16 fl oz bottle purchased at Gomers in Lenexa, Kansas. Pour is hazy, a bit murky ruby cordovan with pretty settling that builds up a lasting one inch tan head. Very little lacing. Aroma of sweet grassy caramel malt and some mildly smoked peat. Behind that is more straw, and a nice soft cherry fruit. Nice inviting nose. Taste is the fruit sweetness first, followed by grassy caramel toasted malt and finishes with the smoky peat. The smoke is more pronounced than the nose, but is nicely ingrated with the sweetness. Palate is medium to full, lowish carbonation and a mineral grainy finish. The sweetness edges on cloying towards the very back, and becomes more honey than caramel cherry. I enjoyed this one quite a bit, nice beer.

Bottle. Pours with a hazed toffee colored body and a khaki white, creamy, largish head. Aroma of raisin, peat, butterscotch, vanilla, charred wood, caramel, and copper. Taste is strong in peat, smoke, earthy tones, beef jerky, liquid smoke and metal with a touch of dark fruits and caramel. Light carbonation and full mouthfeel. A bit astringent on the finish with the smokey peat.
