16 oz bottle. Poured a clear garnet red color. Head was a light tan oatmeal-ish color and reduced over a minute or so to a thin film. Aroma was of molasses and plum. Slightly sweet on the tongue with ample carbonation. Tasted of peated malt, toffee, and cola. Decent.

Wow, this is probably my new favorite Sprecher beer. Smoked flavor that’s not overpowering. Hoped to pick up a couple bottles on my way out of the brewery, but they sold the final three cases in the hour I was there. I can see why.

16 oz. btl. pours a nice dark amber/ brown with off white head. aroma of sugary cola and caramel. A very subtle sweet start with toffe and caramel undertones with a faint toasty/smoke flavor with a light floral hop character. finishes with a syrupy sweetness. the maly backbone is light and sweet.

Pours out a nice reddish brown with a big white head. Big caramel toasted malt aroma. Taste is smokey, and earthy. Nice version of the style.

Bottle (16oz). Deep copper pour, clear, average cream tan head. Pretty solid aroma - moderate alcohol, peaty and sweet rye malt, some underlying tart fruit, and woodsmoke emerging as it warms. The taste is almost as good - tangy, blood-iron cereal malt, apricot fruitiness, but lovely smoky iodine/peat bitterness, very minerally - not blended, but there’s complexity for sure. Average, lightly sticky body, mineral astringency right through the finish, which is fairly quick, but the earthy tang lingers nicely. Quite underrated, IMO.

Pours a deep ruby color with off white head that fades quickly. Aroma is of smoke, caramel, malt, light dark fruit notes. Taste gives way to a big dollup of smoke and caramel and some rich earthiness. This is a rich and flavorful beer but the finish loses some strength.

Tasted at http://www.ratebeer.com/events-detail.asp?eventID= with DenverLogan, and Quaff members. Light brown color. Buttery caramel aroma that I love. Was told comes from 90 minute boils that caramelize the malt. The flavor was a bit watery.

Bottle... Clear amber ale with ruby highlights and a small, fizzy, beige head. The earthy, vinous aroma offers up buttery diacetyl and caramel along with more subtle notes of smoked malt, lactic acid, brown sugar, cinnamon and sweet, red, dessert wine. Beefy flavor with sweet praline and a helping of tawny port. Carefully hopped to embrace and preserve this malty style’s sweetness while providing just enough bitterness to prevent cloying. Oddly, I’m picking up no chocolate. Medium to full-bodied with a lightly creamy mouthfeel and prickly carbonation. Rich, caramelly finish. Better than expected!
