Pours a dark hazy amber with a medium off white head. Aroma is malts, light smoke, a weird plastic or cardboard type smell. Flavor is bitter grassiness, malts, oak, and ashy smoke. Maybe some hints of fruits. Not bad but nothing special.

Cloudy chocolate with weak head / Smokey nose / Light body, with smoke overpowering other flavors / Weak finish. Awkward.

16 ounce bottle. Pint glass. Mahogany with little or no head. Aroma was roast malt and smoke. Flavor was dominated by a smokey quality with notes of sweet malt and caramel. There was some alcohol bite as it warmed.

16oz. Bottle $7.49 4-Pack Binny’s Orland Pipers Scoth ale pours garnet into my pint glass with a minimal head that drops to a ring around the glass in no time. Mahogany hues when held toward the light. The body looks good but the lack of head hurts appearence. Smell comes across with toasted malts and a decent amount of smokiness. Maybe it’s in my mind but I detect peat moss as well.Mild aromas of caramel and a hint of vanilla are in there too. Smells good. Taste is much the same as the flavor. Toasted malts are the backbone of this beer. Theres a mildly sweet caramel malt present along with a slight metallic character. Some sweetened smoke comes along mid-palate and lingers throughout the finish. Good flavor. The body of this beer is very thin. Too thin to make the flavors as enjoyable as they could be. There’s a very small amount of creaminess in the finish but it’s just not enough. I could drink two of these in a sitting but that would be it. Just a little too bland to drink more. I could see this being a good beer if the mouthfeel was tweaked around a little bit. Way too thin. Besides that it’s a solid beer. 3/16/07

Pours a cloudy brown with a off white head. Aroma was strong with fruits and caramel. Tasted sweet with a nice alcohol sting as well. Hints of caramel and malt in the finish.

This has a chestnut body , highlighted in red, and has a creamy ecru head. It smells sweet with toffee and juicy fruits. Nice full body and creamy on the tongue. It tastes of toffee & caramel with light juicy fruits and a hint of smoke. Straightforward and tasty, a good representation of the style.

Draft, 2006 GTM. Smoke and dark fruit in the aroma. A little grassy. Odd. Dark copper, off-white head, lasting. Smoke. Nice beer.

Bottled. A hazy dark amber beer with a thin rim of beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet malty with primary notes of caramel, leading to a dry and slightly roasted end.
