oh6gdx (8802), Vasa, Finland Oct 3, 2006 Bottled. Orange/dark nutty brown colour, off-white head. Aroma is leather, malts and a bit hops. Flavour is quite the same with also some nuts in it. A lot like Orkney’s Skull splitter in my opinion. rlgk (3377), Vårgårda, Sweden Oct 1, 2006 (Stockholm Beer Festival 2006) Amber, offwhite head. Roasted aroma, almost a bit smoked, malty and fruity with some nutty notes. Malty and nutty flavor, some butter. Strong but smooth and with a pleasant finish. omhper (12155), Stockholm, Sweden Sep 29, 2006 [Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival] Clear dark amber. Fruits and peat hits my nose heavy at first contact. Fairly sweet with some green apples and near full body. Lots of malt in here, and the mouthfeel is gracefully soft, but green apples disturbs. nick76 (2636), Tampa, Florida, USA Sep 25, 2006 The aroma is earthy with smoke (peat), toasted malt, caramel, and fruity. The appearance is orange/red/brown with a small but foamy head. The flavor is like the aroma with the peat making itself known along with a very sweet malt. The palate is somewhat smooth but a little thin. I like this one. Palidor19 (1750), Brandon, Florida, USA Sep 25, 2006 Mighty Impressive, I do enjoy a Rich malty beer with a strong flavor and AC content. Malts is taste of caramel and syrup. Slight smoke taste fill after with a after taste of coffee. Quite smooth too NYHarvey (2154), New York, New York, USA Sep 17, 2006 New in town. From the English ales sampler pack.

Aroma is damn fruity with some mildly rancid/rotten notes melded with alcohol. Oddly it smells better than the words suggest. I’m assuming the aroma stems from peat and is intended to be smokey, but I’m getting rancid instead. Body is a ruddy amber with a pinky thin tan head. Fairly smokey in the fore followed by rich sweet caramel accented malt. Too smokey for my personal tastes, but i imagine those that like peat would appreciate this. hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA Sep 5, 2006 Bottle. Medium sized ivory fizzy head that mostly diminished, poor lacing, transparent, fizzy, fast-rising carbonation, and a reddish brown hue. Malty, caramel, sweet, toasty, and smokey nose. Flavor was sweet malt, caramel and smokey. Smooth, thin mouthfeel. Light body. Jabswitch (206), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Sep 2, 2006 I am quite new to Scotch Ales. This one had a brownish head and a deep copper color. Aroma was sweet - with a caramel character. This type of ale is a little too sweet and rich for my taste. It was definitely a high quality ale but just not to my taste. Very drinkable for a high alcohol content.
