2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Single from total wine. Smoke and peat and unfortunately I can’t get much past that. This one is not for me but I’m sure the smoke guys will get all over it.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
The beer that taught me the difference between a Scottish ale and a scotch ale. Dark amber full bodied beer. I am rating it a 5 simply to try to counter the ridiculously low rating that it has on this website

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours dark amber with a thin head. Caramel, roasted malt and a light smokiness. A tad too sweet for my taste but still mighty fine.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
This is very scotchy. Almost too much. Kind of sweet. Carmel and malty. Not a fan. Had this on draft at the sprecher brewpub in lake Geneva, IL.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 ounce bottle - $2.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours a darkish amber-brown body with good clarity capped by a smallish, near white head.
Smell: Vibrant caramelized sugars, toast, roast and given a good dosing of fruity esters. All the while, there’s pervasive, peat-driven smokiness.
Taste: Toasted, lightly roasted malts hit with a little sweet caramel. Poignant peat character throughout that, when it combines with the upfront sweetness, tastes like a sweet barbecue sauce. Sorta. Fruity esters of golden raisin and cherry. A little herbal hop character, a little bitterness, but it’s not enough to keep it from finishing with a sweet, smoky peat flavor. Quite the malt-forward brew, here.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Very, very slight stickiness to the mouthfeel.
Overall: Sweet and smoky!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Comes out of the growler a clear and bubbly mahogany, almost a Coca-Cola brown with a fluffy and frothy, if not persistent, buff head. Malty aroma has a strong syrupy caramel overtone and just a hint of cloves - and yes, a hint of roast malt. Flavor echoes the caramel and roast malt notes of the aroma, with touches of cloves and barbecue. Flavor is firm and smooth, if not too fizzy. Overall, satisfying and enjoyable. Let this Piper down your pipes.
