Commercial Description:
This hearty red-brown ale has a slight smokey aroma of sweet caramel and lightly toasted malt. The flavor is malty, yet very smooth, with a delicate hop finish and a creamy head. Recommended Serving Temperature: 50°F

Pours out a nice reddish brown with a big white head. Big caramel toasted malt aroma. Taste is smokey, and earthy. Nice version of the style.

Bottle pours an amber brown with a creamy beige head that laces down in patches. Fruity dark malts come off first but with a swirl strong smoked peat notes that are meaty and inviting. Dark fruits peat earthy toasted and smoked malts. Bitter and sweet. On the sweet side but the strong smoked peat makes for a solid brew.

Had on tap after a tour of the brewpub. It was sweet and smokey like it should be... and there was something odd about it.

Amber with 2cm of frothy, off white head. Nose of lightly toasty, peaty malt, earth, and some caramel like sweetness. Flavor is similar adding a small dose of smoke, more caramel, cocoa powder, and just a hint of crisply bitter hops in the finish. Pretty accurate commercial description. Medium body, just a bit smoother than balanced. Decent, drinkable.

Aroma was certainly tempting. Heavy malt and roasted aroma, taste didn’t come out that way. Overly sweet carmel taste, with an alcohol bite in the aftertaste. A good attempt , but needs improvement

Dark ruby mahoganey body. Small creamy tan head. Sweet caramel, slightly hopped and smokey aroma. Also some spicey Burts Bees Bay Rum aftershave balm. Slightly smokey, stale rye-bread-like caramel malt flavor. Hops aren’t too noticable, but leave a slightly bitter trace. Pretty good Sprecher offering overall.

Bottled, courtesy Narnad. Murky brown with tints of orange and red. Light brown head is tiny, falling to a thin ring. Huge caramel aroma - wow - rounded out with chocolate malts and the faintest smoke. Caramel flavor - moderately sweet - is balanced with some slightly tangy grain notes (straw), subtle smoke, a little oak. Finish is a touch thin, although this is where I pick up the most smoke. I personally found the carbonation level a touch high and a bit distracting. Would never guess this is a 8%+ ABV beer.

Bottle from the brewery. Dark red brown with medium tan head. Aroma is very smoky/peety, dry, subtle juniper gin, very intereting. Smoky and herbally flavor with dry caramel malt and slight alc. Medium body and hotly carbonated. This is interesting but a little too much for me.
