COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed in the northern style of an English ale. This light brown ale has a nice caramel and toasted malt flavor, combined with a fresh hoppy aroma that is slightly fruity. This is nicely complimented by a subtle bitterness that rounds out the palate.

Sampled on tap, this beer really isn’t bad. Not as exciting as Special Amber or other Sprecher brews available in bars, but quite tasty nonetheless. Smooth, crisp taste, well balanced, drinkable. Not very exciting, but worth trying if all they have is typical macros.

Reddish brown color with a small tan head that fades fast. Strong malt aroma with some fruit and smoky caramel. Creamy texture with taste heavy on the malt and caramel. Nice little bite of hops at the end. I’m a sucker for brown ales and I like this one.

Red/Brown Coloring with Tan Head. Aroma of Sweet Malt, Toasted Notes and Sweet Caramel. The Flavor Reminds me Distinctly of Monkey Bread...Which Has a Nice Caramel Sweetness to It...Lightly Toasted. Some Light Hops at the End That Dance Precariously Through Your Palate. Highly Enjoyable Ale!

Clear but dark mahogany brown color with a small compact head of light tannish grey that turns spongy almost rocky. The cap fades away fairly quick and keeps a thin collar. Lacing is super slippery, nothing holds to the glass all that much but a few sporatic dots. Aroma is of toasted biscuits with a bit of buttery burntness, caramel, and very faint touches of a roasty nut; almond or pecan? Good taster, its pretty well rounded and smoothly handled with favorable amounts of toasty malts and sweet breads, little edges of burntness and nuts slide through now and again. Mellow and easy hoppyness with tiny additions to a floral aspect. Finishes with one very calm and slowly moving caramel sweep and an even later grassy hop nudge and return of roast. Feel is slightly creamy with a shy medium body, it starts well, but loses some of its hold at the middle and continues to slip into a mild, subtle finish while tickling some weaker dryness. Its an inticingly smooth drinker though, it may not be very heavy or thick, as most browns aren’t, but its overall smooth creamyness is very nice on the palate. Goes down with ease and the flavors sit just right. This could be the little brother to G.L. Eliot Ness.

Bottle: Reddish amber hue with a fizzy but mostley head and okay lace. The aroma has notes carmelized malts, grassy and herbal hops, dusty yeast esters, and a hint of pear. The taste starts mildly bitter with a malty background, twangy fruit undertone and light nutty finish. Pretty straight forward and simple but refreshing starter beer.

Deep brown, fizzy off white head. Nose held soft notes of toast, caramel, some overripe fruit, with a slight underlying roasty theme. Flavor was all about the fruity hops, toasted grains and caramel malt, but with a light hop bitterness following up nicely to keep things somewhat in check. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, slightly fruity finish. It went well with Friday night pizza, but personally wouldn’t drink it as a stand alone....

Had this one on draught. Very deep golden color, thin head, quite hoppy like a pale ale, quite bitter.

UPDATED: JUL 21, 2006 Light nutty brown color with a tan halo for a head, this has a mild caramel and toast aroma. It’s medium-bodied with a caramel taste lightly accentuated by a easy hop balance. Mildly bitter finish. Nothing special, but a fine session beer.
