IndianaRed (1553), Boise, Idaho, USA Jul 11, 2007 Bottle Pours a slightly thin black with a modest light tan head. Some coffee in the aroma along with the mainly dark roasted malts. Flavor is definately roasted but was hoping for more depth and character. Basic stout even though it weighs in at over 8%
Thanks Jordan jake65 (1658), Williston, North Dakota, USA Jul 11, 2007 Bottle: Black pour with a thick tanned head and nice lacing. Nose is rich with coffee and cocoa, mild roast. Flavor is good up front with lots of cocoa and coffee, but falters in the tail. Comes out a bit flat and chalky. Good intentions without the followthrough. Thanks Jordan for bringing this back from your trip. Quake1028 (633), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 10, 2007 16oz bottle. Pours a black body with a huge, creamy mocha colored head. The head sticks around for a good while, and when it finally vacates sheets of lacing are left in it’s wake. Stunning. On the nose we have licorice, coffee beans, chocolate, dark fruits and malts. Smells a bit hot as well. On the fore of the tongue we have coffee, chocolate and licorice. Rolling to the back of the tongue brings a nice sweetness into play, as well as more of a roasted character. Medium bodied, a tiny bit thin for an Imp Stout. A bit oily on the tongue as well. Finishes with a roasty kick, turns into bitterness, then leaves a lingering sweetness. Pretty good. Optigon (561), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Jul 9, 2007 Pours black, with no head. Aroma of chocolate and coffee. Thick mouth feel. Flavors of coffee, chocolate, and caramel. Rather strong sweet qualities. mgumby10 (1844), Jupiter, Florida, USA Jun 27, 2007 Courtesy dsnowden. Thanks Dan! Pours black with almost no head. Some light bubbles hug the sides of the glass. Smells of some mild roast, chocolate, dark malts, and some cofee as well. The taste is medium-bodied, alot of chocolate, some roast. Not an overbearing IS by any means, but it is solid all around. A little sweetness to it with a touch of some bitterness in the end, but I liked the aftertaste. Nice chocolate in the back of the throat. A nice experience. Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Jun 27, 2007 12 oz bottle shared with willblake. Pours fairly black with a thin tan head and some lace. Aroma is sugary sweet- brown sugar, caramel and hint sof tobacco and smoke. Good chocolate malt flavor with hints of licorice, tobacco, roasted malts, light on the coffee, maple syrupy sweet and even some charred wood. Ok lasting finish- body is a bit weak. buckybeer (666), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA Jun 26, 2007 Pours black with a dark brown quickly fading head. There is also some nice dark lacing. Aroma is rich malts, molasses, licorice, cocoa. Flavor is candied malts, light bourbon and smoke, roasted nuts. The body seemed juuust a tad thin. That is my only real knock on this one. Very impressed overall. TheCheeseMan (538), Saint Cloud, Florida, USA Jun 23, 2007 Jet black color. Head is tannish and rapidly disappears, bummer. Aroma is muted, some brown sugar and slight roasted aromas peak through. Subtle. Flavor is light and and subdued. Finishes with some bitterness and some dried fruit flavors. Decent, but not inspiring
