TheDean (785), MIlwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Jun 7, 2005 What a beautiful beer, and a darn good one! enjoying this on my porch on a beautiful 80 degree day. Gottalove summer in the city. FoolishMortal (965), San Diego, California, USA May 27, 2005 Pours opaque black with a small tan foamy head. Currant and roast malt aromatics. Roasty malt nose, followed by fruit ester flavors with caramel. Slightly peaty smoke finish with cocoa accents. brewblackhole (1367), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA May 21, 2005 Updated: Mar 31, 2007Had this on tap at Landmark. Big aroma, chocolate syrup and coffee, smooth creamy chocolate ,vanilla taste, distinct, but not full, pleasing chocolate cake aftertaste, not as bold or complex as the best Imperials but one of the biggest beers made by a Wisconsin brewer, who tend to stay on the timid side. I suspect the tap is much better than the bottle MIBRomeo (1962), Wisconsin, USA May 11, 2005 pours a thick dark black w/ a small brown/tan head that laces slightly and dissapates quicly
aroma is of big roastedness malty hints of coffee lightly hoppy w/ a light raisen scent.
palate has some solid carbonation a little astringent only avg body.
taste is of a bitter/sour hops and a little bit of a carmely very weakly roasted malt hints of raisens in the finish
overall a decent beer from sprecher nothing world class 1FastSTi (2551), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA May 11, 2005 Updated: Apr 10, 2008Thanks Chuck for sharing this! A quickly dissipating creamy looking brown head atop a dark brown/black body. Molasses and roasted malts permeate the aroma. Very malty. Flavor is molasses or sorghum, honey, caramel, dark roasted malts with a hint of burnt malt. The palate is thick and bitter with a soft carbonation. This is a good local beer. Gee, I could walk to Sprecher if I really was up for it. robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA Apr 20, 2005 Black Coloring with Hot Chocolate Creamy Head. Malty Aroma with Wisps of Roasts. Creamy Mouthfeel...Nice Balanced Malt and Coffee Roast Background...Sweet Caramel Works Wonderful with the Creamy Feel Down Your Throat. Alcohol Warming Not Noticeable. Definitlly Not a Bad Boy Impy, But Makes Up For it In Balance and Drinkability. Very Nice. GrainBeltGuzzler (249), Goodhue, Minnesota, USA Mar 30, 2005 had this right after their irish stout and I can already see this will be a step up from the pour. although the head disapaites quickly to a film along the edge of the glass. richer smoother and thicker than the irish, a nice smooth hint of carmel and chocolate. probably not the best imperial stout out there, but this is a pretty solid beer which I wouldn’t hesitate to someone starting out in darker beers goldtwins (4078), Nesconset, New York, USA Mar 25, 2005 Poured black with a large tan head. Roasted malt aroma didn’t seem to lean in any one direction for particular aromas. Flavors of roasted malt, coffee, and a tangy finish. Medium bodied but seemed thin on flavor.
