Chocolate cake, blackberries, and alcohol ar my first aromatic impressions of this beer. Prune, earth, grapejuice, and caramel are the backseat drivers. Sweet (maybe too sweet) with a burnt marshmallow finish. Excellent Stout. heemer77 (4313), Savannah, Missouri, USA

The aroma is deep with chocolate and old coffee. There is also some vanilla and cherries. The taste has some dark chocolate and cherries. There is also some light roasted coffee. A little more fruit and less roast than other imperial stouts I have had, but I like the change. A medium mouthfeel that is a little sticky. Nicely done. keoki182 (305), West Bend, Wisconsin, USA

Deep black sludgy pour with a mahogany rim of head around the glass. Good strong coffee aroma. Tasted like cocoa coffee and smoke. I would definitely enjoy more of this impy. jebert (124), Watertown, Wisconsin, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 4, 2006 This brew pours a very dark brown almost black color into the glass, its rich, thick texture evident from the way its folds into the glass. It has a malty, coffee and slight caramel aroma with a brownish tan head that mostly diminishes. Its is vey pleasing and creamy on the palate with a slightly bitter alcoholic finish. It is bold and thick enough to stand up to any meal, and makes a great accompaniment to red meats off the grill. The Czars never had it this good. LooseCannon (938), Norfolk, Virginia, USA

Chocolate, coffee, fig, and a drambuie liqueur taste. Wow!! This is unique. Thanks to Solan for getting this in over at Knightly Spirits. This is more of an after dinner drink than a beer. I can’t wait to taste the rest of this sampler pack. phishpond417 (1953), Madison, Wisconsin, USA

Lots of lacing, with plenty of aroma and flavors. Coffee, toffee and carmel aromas. Flavors are the same with a strong nutty roasted malted character. little carbonation, but that was cool. Great beer packed with tons of flavor- very glad i picked this one up! :) thejoeshow (232), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA

Pours a thick, black with a tan head that has nice retention and laces very nicely. Aroma is very malty with dark chocolate, roast, and a touch of coffee. Flavor is dark chocolate, a bit of caramel and a hint of coffee. It gets a bit sweeter as it moves across your tongue. The mouthfeel is very nice too. Rich and silky. I am very surprised how much I like this beer! If you havent tried it yet....do it. Its worth it.
