2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
16oz bottle-thanks to secret santa for this one. pours dark brown with a small fizzy tan head. big DMS/veg note i get at the start with notes of copper penny, roast, and burnt notes. lactic qualities in the flavors with that lingering veg note. I dont know if the veg note is from DMS or just oxidization. Body is a little lite and fizzy. I think this has aged badly since this past winter. lots of milk chocolate notes on the finish. not very good im affraid.

2.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
(07.18.06) One liter Brewmaster special reserve cobalt blue bottle from DiCarloís, Mundelein, IL.7.9% ABV. No freshness date. Roasted malt and prunes aroma. Poured opaque black with giant tan head. No discernable carbonation. Medium bodied stout that starts with light malt sweetness and licorice, expresso and vegetal flavors. Finished with smokey flavors and light bitterness. Bad bottle? Watery, thin and having an off-flavor of raw string beans or snow peas, this stout is mediocre at best.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pint bottle courtesy of Degarth! Thanks! Pours pitch black with a nice looking creamy tan head. I smell chocholate, vanilla, coffee, caramel, and i maybe some oak, even though it appears it wasnít barrtel aged. Taste is much more coffee than anything else. Seems like to much malt, not enough hops. Just not very well balanced.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle into shaker; purchased at Discount in Milwaukee. Caramel malt smell, with very strong and distinct port aroma; much fruitier on the smell than expected, and the malts seem fantastic, although there’s the indication of some diacetyl. Pours with a largish head that mostly dissipates. Fizzy feel, not much of a body, this disappoints on the flavor; the malts are hidden under the carbonation, there’s just the echo of the porty prune that I smelled and there are lots of residual sugars. The finish is bitter and burnt, and without the malts in the middle to make it a counterpoint, it seems acrid and undesirable.

2.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
No nose, but very nice black color. Tasted like water with a little smoke. I think Iíll stick to their bourbon barrel offerings.

2.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pitch black with a medium brown head. This is not a strong imperial stout. Maybe a sweet stout but not an imperial. Dark chocolate and roasted coffee. The aroma on this one is horrible. Massive nasty vodka aroma. The actual flavor is much better than the aroma. An odd vinegar tinge to the overall flavor.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a thin tan head on it. Nose has a little toastiness and some dark fruit in there. Taste has some definite licorice notes in there which I donít like. Meh.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle: Courtesy of Styles. Aroma is sweet chocolate and the slightest hint of coffee. Pours a dark brown with no transparency and a small tan head. Flavor is chocolate up front with a roasted coffee and very metallic finish. Even without the metal itís still a below average Imperial Stout. With the metal itís just plain bad.
