I bought a single bottle of this from Woodman’s in Janesville, WI for $1.79 in Fall 2011. Pours a clear, light amber color with not too much of a head due to the lack of carbonation. Scents of banannas and some spices are evident. The texture of the beer is watery and the taste is not too inviting. The taste has hints of banannas and dry malts with a slight lemon zest. Overall that taste is very dry and chalky feeling. Perhaps this is good for a gluten free beer, but I’ll take my next beer without sorghum thank you.

Bottle. Pale gold pour with no head. Terrible aroma and taste. Wtf is this? Kind of medicine overall. Bleh.

Pint bottle. Hazy gold with a big white head. Sour and bready. And somehow this only has 100 calories a bottle? I went in expecting this to be a bit different, but this is just not at all pleasing to my palate. Possibly the weirdest sourness I’ve ever had in a beer.

Purchased at Breeze Thru Liquors in Milwaukee, WI; consumed on a lazy Tuesday night while doing some laundry. Appearance is a slightly brownish gold with a very very thin white head that rims around the glass, tiny carbonation bubbles rising to the top, very lager like. Aroma is definitely unique, not really pungent but I’m not smelling roses here. It has a slight fruit / passion fruit complexity to it, almost smells creamy, not really too horrible. Taste is really not so horrible, I definitely make a sad face whenever I have a sip, but it’s not a "no way will I have another sip" beer. Definitely has an unsettling sour quality to it, probably attributed to the sorghum, with almost an apple like quality. When it gets warmer it gets less horrible. Not the worst beer ever, but not far off.

Pours a clear gold with very little carbonation and no head. Smell is sort of like a hard apple cider. The taste is certainly different from any other beer I’ve ever had. It’s almost like a hefeweizen with very pronounced bananna and apple flavors (or half a glass of cider mixed with your hefe) but a very thin body. I liked it more the more I drank. If you’re expecting anything approaching a hoppy or amber ale you’ll be disappointed but if you open your mind and take it as a new and unique experience you may just be surprised at how much you like this traditional brew.

12oz bottle from Mustard Seed, for gluten free night and the taste is just immediately offputting, a mix of beer and wine but smells pungent and strong.. taste is more of the same with a strange bitterness that just doesnt sit well.
