Thickish, chunky head with some lacing tops a medium-amber translucent liquid that smells very much of caramel malt and some faint hoppiness. Flavor decent but unremarkable, with a thin body and lingering sourness that I found rather unpleasant. Have to say I’m finding this brewer rather a disappointment; but maybe Lakefront, New Glarus and Capital have just spoiled me on Wiscosin brews.

Not as good as I want it to be. I have huge memories of how good Sprecher was when I lived in Wisconsin and in the last three months or so, since they finally cracked the tough export to Michigan problem, my memory has been upstaged by the general weakness of the brews. Oh they’re decent enough, and this one has a fair breath of hops to go with its maltiness, but the tastes are generally muddy and the bodies thin.

One of the best beers I have ever had. It went down so smooth and tasted excellent. The finish was money. Yum yum, Milwaukee you are still the greatest.

1/4 inch head, slightly hazy light copper color. just enough thinly bitter hops to balance the very lightly roasted (like decaf coffee with cream roasty - know what I mean?) malt flavor. Interesting maybe, but not a complex product. Also, very carbonated - massive belching followed.

This beer didn’t settle too well with me. Lots of malt flavor, but none of it is really good. The aftertaste leaves your mouth pretty foul too. Tastes a lot like their pub ale, but a bit better.

Living in Milwaukee, I have a deep sense of pride that one of the best beers in the world is made right here. Too bad it’s not available everywhere.

I agree with hennes. Sprecher is much better at the source. the case that I brought back to Minnesota in the trunk of my car was fantastic. But every attempt to buy the beer locally has proved disappointing. I gave my rating based on the draught version in Milwaukee.

UPDATED: AUG 3, 2006 Without a doubt, one of Sprechers better products. Nice color, smooth hop finish. Good with beef.

Sprecher’s macro, meant for wide appeal, and that it does quite well. Decent balance, great with food, especially in places that have only it and some out-of-state swill.
