Bottle from... Samís Quik Shop in Durham? Maybe? This was last summer and Iím just now entering my notes. Sort of a weaker Sam Adams Noble Pils. Yeah, I think Iím done with that description.

Tap at the Wisconsin Dells brewpub. Pours a pale yellow with about a finger of white head. Aroma of bready, earthy hops and a little sweet malt. Perfectly balanced and very easy drinking. Great beer overall, I bought a growler to bring home with me.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Nice big pounder bottle. Got this at merchant street bistro. Neutral aroma. Cloudy light yellow, almost vanilla looking and it reminds me of witbier or lighter hefe in appearance. Taste is exactly as stated,, pilsner bite. Does have this dull background in there. Surprizengly there is not skunk in the aroma, must be fairly fresh. Typical old country pils finish, medium length bitter noble hops.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pouring this beer into a glass is beautiful as the carbonation rises to the top with create the perfect head. The color is a semi-clear, golden yellow with a fluffy off-white head. The scent is mainly yeast and wheat giving it an overall pilsner scent but with a twist of citrus.
The taste is rather bold and daring. The wheat and hops are on the frontline as they attack your taste buds. Slowly there is a sweetness that grows in your mouth however it finishes with a dry, crisp after taste. The texture is smooth which delivers a decent overall volume to the beer.
Iíve had quite a few Sprecher beers in my time and I canít ever say I have ever had a bad one. This Summer Pils is a complex lager that you donít often see in a summer beer. It is just as refreshing as it is interesting. Perhaps what it lacks is that traditional pilsner taste, but then again they do advertise this as ďCzech Style.Ē As with most Sprecher brews, you get a full 16 ounces to enjoy in every bottle which always a huge plus!

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle - Pours lightly hazy amber with a thick foamy white head. Nose is honey and light butterscotch, minimal hopping, and some rustic grainy malt. The hops come through on the taste, a little herbal/floral mix that peeks through the honey sweet malt and grain. A little watered down, and with an odd soured-malt/butterscotch note. Real thick, smooth carbonation makes this drink bigger than it is. Too sweet for my tastes, and not sure about those off flavors.

Brings to mind grass and corn and not a whole lot else. Of course itís preferable to any macro pilsener I can think of--the color is gorgeous and the medium-light body is close to perfect--but itís probably not going to convert those not already into the style or impress those who are.
