COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Atomic Raygun Imperial Red is a big, aggressively hopped Red Ale. It starts out with piny aromas and citrus flavors courtesy of the generous hops, and finishes with a nice rich, malty sweetness that balances the crisp hop bitterness.

Growler from the Spring House Brewery, thanks Matt. Poured a dark amber with off white head and good lacing. Some berry citrus-pine aroma. Very fresh and a hops bitterness that was a little edgy. Refreshing and good, I like the Seven gates a little better but I think it’s a dead heat. I’m liking this brewery more and more, keep it coming

Tap, taproom, backlog. Pours a dark ruby amber body with a small fizzy off-white head. The nose is actually pretty light compared to what I was expecting. Some toasted and grainy malt with light to moderate citrusy and floral hops. The flavor is well balanced as far as sweet-bitter goes, but not a whole lot beyond tons of toasted malt going on. There must be a lot of malt in here, but it doesn’t do anything exciting. Light to moderate resiny hops that linger a bit on the finish. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with some lingering resin. Fine and slightly fizzy carbonation. This one doesn’t do anything much for me.

Best red I’ve had in a while. Thick toasty head off tap, hops upfront that linger throughout. Deep, dark red - so dark it’s almost opaque.

Tap sample at Boilermaker. Pours a clearish red copper color with medium head/lace. Aromas and taste of wonder bread, floral hops, fig, piney citrus. Rich malty finish left on the palate. Medium bodied.

On draft at Standard Tap. Pours clean amber orange light off white head. Aroma is caramel malt, a little bready; light pine and citrus hops. Hoppiness up front - citrus and pine, with a little basement funk, and caramel

Bottle consumed at a recent DC area tasting. Served in a SAVOR snifter. Pours a moderate amber-brown color with a really thin off-white head and no lacing as it goes down. The nose is a bit strange. There are some good hoppy notes there as well as some bready malt; however, there’s a strange offness to the back-end of the profile, reminding me a bit of clothes that have been left in the washer for too long. This continues in the flavor, which does have the components of a nice beer with some good American hops, but the off flavor really kills things. Same goes for the mouthfeel, which is saved by some bitterness. Not a big fan, though I’d certainly try this again to see if it was a problem with this bottle/batch, as I have enjoyed everything else from Spring House in the past. 651mL thanks to noodleuser. Oh joy, another Imperial Red. Poured a deep raspberry bruin with tan, sheety lace. Aroma is raspberry tea, lemon tea. Taste is tea tannic, bitter, all raspberry tea. Bland, tannic palate. Could easily just be tea.
