COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Beyond the Gates Double IPA is for those of you who have been enjoying Seven Gates Pale Ale, and are ready for that next step. It’s brewed with a generous dose of Cascade and Centennial hops that mingle with the sweetness of Belgian caramel malts to yield a full-bodied ale. This assertive ale balances a rich malt flavor with a pronounced hop character. Beyond the Gates is finished with a generous dry-hopping of imported hops resulting in a very aromatic and flavorful DIPA.

Tap. Pours a clear gold body under a one finger foamy white head. The nose is citrusy and resiny with a heavy bready malt base. A light hint of alcohol as well. The flavor is not quite as bitter as I was expecting, though there’s plenty of hops. The malt base is rather heavy and sweet with lots of bready malt. Fairly thick and full bodied with soft fizzy carbonation and a lingering tropical fruit hoppiness. Decent stuff, but not something I’d drink a whole lot of.

750ml Bottle: Aroma of hops, flowers, citrus, crystal malt, and slight pine. Poured amber in color with a small, off-white head that diminished but lasted as a film on top of the beer. Cloudy. Slightly sparkling. Full of tiny particles throughout. Small lacing. Flavor is heavily bitter and also medicinal. Tastes of hops, resin, pine, alcohol, grass, slight bamburg wood, and some medicine. Medium body. Lightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Medicinal, hop, slight Bamburg wood, pine, and resin finish is heavily bitter and dry.

Tap at CAH. Pours a hazy golden with a large foamy white head that laced. Aroma of smoked meats, nice hoppy notes and some bready malt. Flavor of light hops, smoked malts, bready character and grains. Surprised at the smokiness in this. It was put on a clean line at the CAH and this is the first pour form the keg. NOt bad...just not sure where the smoke is coming from.

Draft. Thick orange brown color. Soapy head. Balanced earthy aroma. Lots of bitter hops, but not much carbonation. A tad thick, but still has some pleasant flowery hoppiness. Middle of the road.

Light blond appearance with a ring of head. The nose is surprisingly leafy, replete with Centennial and Cascades rounded out with careful co-humulone touches and tastefully bitter licks. The body too is heavily C-hopped, but quite acerbic. Despite the emphatically bitter finish, a decent, highly drinkable brew.

Hazy straw yellow body, medium white head, soapy lacing. Nose is pine, caramel, resin and grapefruit. Flavor is all bitterness. Masking the actual hop flavor. Medium bodied, light carbonation, massive bitterness, truncated finish.

Growler shared at tasting by Jonathan. Thanks! Pours a nice clearish orange color with short lived whitish head. Smell is nice and fragrant with pine and grapefruit fruitiness. Taste is similar with a nice pine like bitterness and bitter grapefruit rind bitterness. Body is a bit thin, and the carbonation is normal. Overall a very solid beer and more in between IPA and DIPA, body-wise.
