COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Creamy, malty, and full-bodied, the Big Gruesome Stout is scary good. The intense, roasty flavor comes from two types of chocolate malt and raw cocoa nibs. The stout is then aged on whole vanilla beans and more raw cocoa nibs to enhance the chocolate flavors. Rich peanut butter is introduced throughout the entire brewing process to make this stout even more Gruesome.here is the description:

Dark brown pour with a medium brown head. Aroma of chocolate, light roast, peanut butter, light vanilla. Very peanut butter cup aroma. Taste is slightly sweet but slightly roasty/bitter. Decent balance. Medium body with medium carb. I’d appreciate slightly more body.

Pours pitch black into the glass, with a nice tan head that leaves ring lacing. The nose is of peanut butter cups. Huge roasted malts and bitter dark baking chocolates in the mouth, with peanut butter and vanilla beans showing up mid-palate. The finish is a nice bittering chocolate that lingers appropriately. A very unique cross between a breakfast stout, a traditional Impy stout and a foreign stout. Full-bodied and velvety on the palate, the semi-active carbonation provides nice activity to a smooth pull. To be enjoyed as a nightcap, this is very, very nice. I can’t get over the roasts, bitters and chocolates working in tandem so well, without introducing "sweet" lactose sugars (i.e. the milk stout). Complex for days. Substantive and inviting!

keanex (1629) - Atco, New Jersey, USA - JAN 1, 2015
On tap at Barcade Philly.
Appearance: Black opaque body, creamy tan head.
Aroma: Peanut butter and chocolate mostly. Pretty mild.
Taste: A little astringent, light peanut butter with hints of chocolate.
Palate: Medium bodied, moderately carbonated.
Overall: I guess I was expecting Sweet Baby Jesus imperial, but this is more balanced. I prefer SBJ still.

Bomber to snifter (shared with the Mrs; thanks reggiedunlop). Looks good; a slightly translucent very dark cola with foamy beige head. Smells solid; dark malt, chocolate, and vanilla with a bit of peanut butter in the background. Tastes like it smells with a slightly bitterly roasty medium light-bodied mouthfeel. Could be more viscous, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Draft at The Suburban Tavern. Opaque brown pour with some lasting tan foam. Lace. Dark cocoa. Dark roasted peanuts. More bitter than sweet. Nicely balanced.

pineypower (2685) - Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA - DEC 17, 2014
Draft at corked Bethlehem. Pours out almost black with a moderate tan head. Aroma is of rich chocolate, peanut butter, mild roast and some light coffee grounds. Taste is complex. Smooth and silky body. Chocolate, peanut butter, nice balance between the two, some mild toasty notes, roast and a touch of syrupy notes. This one is solid.

Bottle... Pours murky and black with a lightly-tanned head that diminishes quickly. Wonderful aromatic mélange of chocolate, peanut butter and vanilla. Light to medium-bodied with a watery mouthfeel and jazzy carbonation. The flavor offers big-time vanilla and hazelnuts, but is thin overall. Finishes like a hazelnut and vanilla-flavored brew. The label and nose say peanuts. My taste buds say hazelnuts. I’m confused. Nice beer though. Needs more viscosity to really make it a world-class brew. Bottle courtesy of landhoney!

A load of peanut butter, especially in the nose. Medium-full body still seems s tad too thin for the robust flavor profile. Nicely bitter sweet.

22oz bottle in a taster. Pours near black with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, some peanut butter, chocolate and light coffee, dough, and light bitterness. Flavor the same. Average texture. A pretty good beer.

From tap. Pours hazy dark brown to black with a small brown head. Aroma is roasted malty and caramelish, solid peanut aroma. Toffee, roasted, slight perfumed and soapy. Bitter, herbal and roasted dark malty into a dry and bitter finish.
