Bottle shared by Samantha. Thanks! Black pour with a small tan head. Nose is hazelnut, vanilla, and a touch of peanut butter. Roasted malt, chocolate, and some hints of coffee. Tastes of hazelnuts and vanilla, too. Peanut butter, chocolate, roasted malt, and coffee. Maybe kind of an oily feel to the beer.

On tap at GABF 2012. Pours with a black hued body and a lasting tan head. Aromas are dusty, nutty, cocoa, lightly earthy with some distinct buttery notes. Flavors are dry and chocolatey with low roast, peanuts and almost a coconut note. Medium viscosity, off-dry.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Growler at Campdown Brewdown. Deep brune pour. Mocha foam. Nose is powerful caramel and Reese’s peanut butter cups. Taste is weak, watery, slick/buttery. Lemon tea finish with hefty tartness. Gimmicky. Would not consider this imperial stout. Maybe brown ale.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
My Bottom Line:
Nut skins, chocolate and caramel merge atop some greenness before light fruitiness seals each sip.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam tops the dark brown.
-A discreet acidity also appears in the finish.
-Carbonation is soft which makes the residual sugars appear heavier.
-The greenness doesn’t jive with the nut aromas.
