COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Creamy, malty, and full-bodied, the Big Gruesome Stout is scary good. The intense, roasty flavor comes from two types of chocolate malt and raw cocoa nibs. The stout is then aged on whole vanilla beans and more raw cocoa nibs to enhance the chocolate flavors. Rich peanut butter is introduced throughout the entire brewing process to make this stout even more Gruesome.here is the description:

Pours an opaque black from the bottle with dissipating tan brown head that leaves good lace. Aroma is like a dark chocolate reeses cup, loads of pb2 on top of sweet and dark chocolate. Taste follows, big and sweet, but still thick like a nice imperial stout. No real booze presence, solid dessert beer.

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate milk chocolate and with light-moderate peanut butter. It pours a dark brown with no transparency and a small beige head that quickly fades to a thin ring around the edges of the glass. The flavor starts with moderate dark chocolate with a touch of caramel. The finish has moderate peanut butter, roasted nuts, and a hint of alcohol. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation and a somewhat oily mouthfeel.

Bottle: Thanks, Jason. Deep black body, lightly oily with a tan foam that recedes to a mildly foamy, thin collar. Peanut buttery, toasted nut & dense cocoa aroma. Lots of sweet nut butter in the aroma, Slight Reese’s Fast Break bar reminders. Taste is more thin; a little roasty with some chocolate maltiness. Mild peanut butter, toasted nuts, slight roast, & a little milkiness. Would like a bit creamier of a mouth feel, but a good beer.

Amazing. So full of flavor. Ver chocolate, smooth and sweet. A fabulous taste. Exactly what you expect.

Not as gruesome as I imagined it might be. Pours black with ok head and lacing. Only light peanut butter and jelly taste, a little more of the former. Some musk and roast present in decent quantity. Had a taste of this through Ed at Churchkey. Thanks!

Transfer from BA review on 12-1-12- Served on tap in a snifter glass Appearance – Served a deep black brew with a two finger cream colored head. The head faded over a moderate level of time to leave a fantastic level of lacing. Smell- The smell is huge of chocolate and sweet peanut butter. It is like a peanut butter buckeye ball. Delicious. Taste- The taste is much drier then the nose would suggest. It starts out of rather roasted and malty with a little bit of chocolate. As the flavor advances some flavors of a creamy peanut butter begin working their way into the taste. The peanut better and chocolate grow more intense as the taste moves on, with some of the roasted malt flavors dwindling a bit. Overall this creates a lighter dry peanut and cocoa flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is average in terms of creaminess with a carbonation level that is rather average. A bit of a thicker body as well as a lower carbonation level would have better accentuated the darker and peanut better flavors of the beer. Overall – An interesting brew. Super sweet smelling, but much drier and roastier then expected from the nose. The only thing holding the brew back was the rather weak mouthfeel. Otherwise it is fantastic. Regardless it is one you should try if you get the chance.

Pours thick dark brownish black with a dark beige cocoa head. Aroma brings vanilla nutty wafers on the nose. Flavor brings dark roasted chocolate, vanilla wafers, and then dies a bit on the backend leaving some sweeter chocolate to linger on the tongue.

Bottle thanks to jdb288. Pours dark brown with a small head that fades to a messy ring. Leaves a little lacing. Really nice aroma of peanut butter and vanilla with hints of cocoa. Tastes like peanuts, vanilla, bitter roasted coffee, and dry cocoa. It’s not sweet enough to taste like peanut butter and chocolate and the roasty flavor throws it off a little. Medium body. Mouthfeel should be creamier. Kinda let down by this beer. I always get excited to try new PB beers but this one is like most PB beers. Great aroma but can’t nail the taste.

Very excited to try this. Pours a pitch black with kakhi head. Smells like a Reese's peanut butter cup. Tastes like smoked malt, chocolate, slight peanuts. Overall smells better than it tastes but is still quite tasty ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a deep coffee brown with a thick and fairly persistent tan head. Smoky malt aroma has definite notes of chocolate and peanut butter, rather like a fresh Kit-Kat. Flavor is mainly roast malt and chocolate with a peanut butter hint. Texture is smooth and rather firm, if not too fizzy. Get your gruesome on!
