Brewed to give the stout a smoother, almost slick, mouthfeel with a nice finish of coffee provided by Cumberland Coffee and Tea Company. Dark malts are used to give this beer a very complex roast flavor. Lower bittering rates ~30 IBU’s helps put the flavor highlighting the maltiness, and roasted malt. ABV is coming in around 7% on this one!

On tap at the BNA 8 party at World Cafe live Philadelphia Huge coffee bomb! There’s a little caramel sweetness but this beer is mostly coffee and at times a bit too bitter for me.

Bottle. Pours deep black with one finger of mocha head that quickly dissipates and soapy lacing. Nose of espresso, dark chocolate, roasted malt. A little light bodied for the style, well carbonated, with a strong sweet and bitter coffee finish. Pretty tasty.

On tap at Bainbridge Street Barrel House in Philly. Pours a deep dark black color with a two finger dense tan head that falls to a thin cap and leaves lots of lacing. Big coffee aroma with some roastiness and a hint of milk chocolate. Taste is very coffee forward and nicely balanced between sweetness and bitterness. Also has some milk chocolate and and a hint of dark fruits and wood. Medium to heavy bodied, with a long lasting bitterness and a drying finish. This would be a wonderful breakfast beer!

Growler shared by eernadz, thanks hunter. Poured a nice dark brown color with huge aromas of fresh pressed coffee and light chocolate. Flavors are roast and coffee with a kiss of cocoa. Thanks hunter for the share.

Bottle from Maris. Pours pitch black with a medium sized brown head that sticks around. The aroma is about as coffee forward as can be.. Just straight coffee bean to the max. Whether you like that or not determines the aroma-rating. The taste makes Wake-n-Bake seem like a child’s coffee beer. This guy is straight alcoholic coffee. That is an awesome thing in my book. It may be one dimensional but it is a great dimension. It is a little thin on palate but that is the only knock.
