3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark with a brown head. Aroma is minty, chocolate, and light roasted malts. Medium bodied. Flavor is much like a Girl Scout Thin Mint. Chocoalte, minty, light roasted malts, and a bit of toast. I thoroughly enjoyed this beer and could happily put a few down in an evening. Sure, itís a gimmick, but itís one that worked quite well, IMO.

4.1 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: APR 5, 2015 Exactly what it claims. However it is a little syrupy. Very sweet but that mint hits hard to balance. Truly good for dessert. Not something To have with a meal. Must have alone or after. Tap

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured a dark brown with a dense light brown head which lingered and laced......aroma of spear mint, coffee......taste is a touch sour, minty, bakers chocolate, finishing with bitter coffee grounds....interesting but odd, perhaps an older bottle looking at other reviews.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Got in a BIF from JNForsyth. 22 ounce bottle into snifter; no bottle dating, but is a recent seasonal release. Pours pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky dark tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, mint, light coffee, toast, dark bread, light smoke/char, herbal, and roasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt and mint/dark chocolate notes; with great strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, mint, light coffee, toast, dark bread, light smoke/char, herbal, and roasted earthiness. Fair amount of roast/char bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, mint, light coffee, dark bread, light smoke/char, and herbal/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice balance, robustness, and complexity of dark/roasted malt and mint/dark chocolate flavors; with a good roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and no cloying flavor after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and fairly creamy/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. A nice light cooling sensation from the mint shows up after the finish as well. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice mint chocolate imperial stout. All around great complexity, balance, and robustness of dark/roasted malt and mint/dark chocolate flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
650 ml bottle from a recent trip to PA. I canít have dairy so drinking this is dessert in a glass. The smell reminders me of mint chocolate chip ice cream, just spot on mint and chocolate. The flavor is right on point with the nose. Light roasted malt, mellow milk chocolate with mint being almost overwhelming, almost. Body is slightly thin but the flavor really works for a dessert stout

3.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Thanks AFH for sharing this bomber picked up in PA. Bomber split 3 ways @ 45F-50F. This isa pitch black beer, just a minor head and fades fast. This smells amazing just like the most mint chocolate chip oreo, ice cream sunny in a glass. Yup. The taste is very close to Fernet Branca w/ mint almost a juniper like spiciness and the aftertaste is like a mint liqueur that really sticks around. Sharp chocolate at the start but that fades fast. In some ways, I love it in other ways, itís really nice to split this one. Lots of flavor but very clearly dominated by mint.

A near perfect beer, delicious in the fall and winter months. It's a thin mint in a glass. No more description needed...it's fantastic.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Transfer from BA review on 2-3-14-
Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance Ė The beer is served a nearly pitch black color with a bit of tan foam on the surface of the brew. The head fades quite fast, leaving a trace level of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell Ė The aroma of the beer was big of chocolate smells with a good deal of roasted malt. Along with these aromas are some sweet vanilla and caramel smells as well as a bit of a raisin and cherry smell. A very heavy amount of mint is there as well giving it an overall minty dark sweet chocolate smell.
Taste Ė The taste begins with a sweet chocolate flavor mixed with lots of roasted malt. A good level of vanilla and caramel sweetness are present from the start, with just some lighter amount of mint. While the mint is lighter at the start, it really grows quite intense as the flavor advances, melding very well with the sweet chocolate flavors of the brew. The roasted flavors of the taste dwindle a bit at the end, but are replaced by more sweet chocolate. With the transitions of flavors that occur throughout the taste, one is left with a nice sweet mint chocolate flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel-The body of the beer is medium in its thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is on the lighter side. A slightly thicker and creamier body may have been a bit better for the mint chocolate flavors of the brew, but even with that said the lower carbonation was quite nice, and overall the mouthfeel of the brew was good.
Overall Ė This is a fantastic dessert beer. It tastes just like a mint chocolate bar. While not one I would want every day, for a sweeter dessert style beer, this one is fantastic.

Bottle from unknown shop. Pours black with a half inch khaki head. Leaves some lacing in the bottle. Big mint on the nose with faint chocolate. Massive mint on the tongue as well with the chocolate flavor more expressed on the finish. Solid.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma - a lot of pleasant aromas here, chocolate, mint - (much like Girl Scoutís Thin Mints) ~ nice and sweet
Appearance - dark brown/black body; opaque liquid; head is huge and beautiful about 2 1/2" brown head ~ that slowly subsides (also nitrogen look when it pours); great lacing all the way down the glass - great looking beer.
Taste - roastier than I would have guessed based on the aroma; chocolately, and some subdued mint. Sweet, but also a little roast bitterness - not much though
Palate - body is medium; texture is kind of thin for a stout; carbonation is average; and the finish is roast and medium in length a little bitter, but not too much.
Again, as Iíve said before, I am in love with this brewery. I canít say enough good things.
