jimbowood (701), Athens, Georgia, USA Jul 5, 2008 bottle. Sour with a soapy finish that takes away from this otherwise nice brew. Just okay. Guerde (440), Welcome, Minnesota, USA Jun 28, 2008 (bottle, thanks for sharing BDR!) Pours cloudy light brown with a white head. Aroma is full of funk, brett, tart cherry, and lots of oak, that all blend together seamlessly. The taste is also dominated by tart cherry skin, there’s also some sweetness there too, but the finish is all oak. I’m usually not a big fan of sour ales, but this one was very well done. MatSciGuy (171), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Jun 21, 2008 [Bottle] shared by BDR. Pours cloudy, chalky caramel with a medium off whtie head. Aroma is tart brett, apples, vinegar, and funk. The flavor is not super sour and rather more delicate, nice light mouthfeel, vinegar, some alcohol, bourbon, and oak. kmweaver (1800), Takoma Park, Maryland, USA Jun 16, 2008 750mL bottle, courtesy of jjpm74. Thanks, John! Pours a hazy, dark amber color; light-tan head with fine-bubbled lacing. Red fruits, bandaids, and vinous notes in the aroma; mild tartness, plenty of red fruits; a bit messy. Medium mouthfeel: lively carbonation; bandaids more than anything, some red fruits and light maltiness; very much a bandaid beer (not so very different from Avery 15, in hindsight); disappointing. Medium finish: bandaids, lightly tart red fruits, and some toastiness. jjpm74 (2722), Connecticut, USA Jun 15, 2008 Bottle courtesy of tjthresh. Pours reddish brown with a thin white head. Smells of brett, funk, some tartness. Tastes of tarte malt, some nice hints of dryness and fruity. Some residual sugar on the finish. Enjoyable.
