COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The beer you are about to enjoy started it’s 21 months of barrel aging with Brettanomyces bruxellensis in the spring of 2005. This combination of wood and yeast is largely responsible for the je ne sais quoi of many Belgian beers. Our 10th Anniversary Barrel Reserve’s lengthy aging has resulted in a mahogany colored ale with a distictive Brettanomyces nose, assented with oak from new American oak barrels. Hints of vanilla and sherry-like notes make this beer one to savor. As it warms in the glass, its layers of complexity are further revealed. We hope you enjoy this fine beer. Cheers!

Pours with good carbonation and some lacing. Smells of wine barrel and spice. Taste includes vanilla and more wine and bourbon barrel characteristic. The wild yeasts are well integrated into the overall flavor. Mouthfeel is full bodied but kept light due to the impressive carbonation. Fantastic!

Post-EBF tasting. Sour, a little bit metallic, slight hints of vanilla, oak, sweet malts. A pretty good, drinkable sour. Reminds me of a Flanders brown.

Bottle at the Saturday night hotel tasting after EBF. Pours a hazy brown orange with a thin beige head. Big fuzzy sour notes, toast and acid. Funky and toasty. Sweeter than expected, sweet malt and light acid. Toasty and warm. Long sweet finish with some woody acid. Nice, warm alcohol follows it out.

750 ml bottle. Thanks Sir Footbalm! Unfortunately the notes taken on this beer were limited, but both me and my wifey remember this beer being exceptional. We will try to find another bottle in the future and have a "re-do," but here’s what we got- Nose was sour, woody, with Bretty wet hay. Malts and Bret were noticeable in the flavor, and it drank extremely smooth. "Wine-like" comes to mind. Again, looking forward to a potential re-drink, but it was an ’05...here’s hoping a bottle magically materializes.

Another cool bottle broke out by the mighty footbalm! Thanks Eric. Pours a hazy orange almost brown color with a medium tan head. A nice fruity, sour and especially funky nose. An oaky and strong funky flavor, some fruit and sherry, some sourness almost, lots of tannins from the oak, funky brett throughout. Very good, a surprise.
