3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Also known as "IRA" (Imperial Red Ale). Pours a big hazy orange, big thick head that lasts. Aroma is very well hopped, big pine needles, hemp rope, and caramel in the nose. Flavor is brutally hoppy, almost "hot" at the beginning, giving way to a melba cracker like caramel malt middle, before becoming one of the most bitter, long finishes I can remember. Two years ago, this beer would have been remarkable, but I’ve had too many hop monsters for this one to be special.
