It’s quite possible to forget you are drinking a beer sometimes with this brew. An excellent night-cap or Christmas morning beer!

On tap at the brewpub. Pours black with a thick light tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, maple, and espresso. Flavor retains the coffee notes quite well, also with sweet and roasted malt. Great coffee presence! Yum! 8/4/8/4/14 (3.8/5)

Sweet aroma, with notes of coffee and roasted malts. Appearance is a dark brown/red, slight head. The flavor has a chocolate coffe taste, with definite notes of lactose from the milk. This milk sugar adds a slightly sour taste to the overall sweetness. Mouthfeel is a little thick, and the finish is long lasting. Overall a decent stout

Draft… Pitch black ale with a mid-sized, wispy, beige head. Good retention. Espresso beans and cocoa nibs waft up from the glass. Medium to full-bodied with zesty carbonation. The flavor is mostly of finely ground deep-roast coffee... burnt, bitter, ashy and acrid. Crisp, charred, bitter finish.

Tap at the brewpub. The body was black with a little bit of red at the edges. The typical dense nitro head sat on top. The aroma was light molasses and chocolate. The taste was relatively dry with some cocoa hints and bread crust. Nitro just destroys an otherwise decent beer.

Very creamy, dense head- definitely a nitro-ed beer. Lots of coffee and chocolate in the taste, but damn if it does not drop off after that. Almost no finish to speak of. Initially, a pretty spot on stout, but lacks follow through.

On tap @ brewpub in Springfield. Black beer with big, creamy head. Sharp aroma of bourbon, chocolate, espresso. Big coffee flavor, where bitter espresso meets bitter hops. Mouthfeel is a bit thin with lively carbonation for a stout. Coffee also strong in the bitter, roasted-malty finish. This one’ll wake you up.

Perfumey fully malty nose offers a broad range of dark fruits that underline the potent highly roasted espresso and earthy chocolate malts. The pour is black, rather opaque and proposing an enormous, fully lacing ivory head. Traces of molasses and vanilla upgrade the complexity further and beg for a first sip. Tartish wet cigar old hops don’t quite provide the balancing bitterness I needed to compensate for the sweet and lactic flavors that give the impression that a lot happens through their fighting with the heavy coffee laden roastiness. I’m not the biggest fan here, but it smells very good.
