COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular.
A pale golden beer with a fruity orange aroma and a dry peppery finish.
Maid Marian is brewed with Maris Otter Pale malt, Cluster hops, and Nottingham Ale yeast. Its refreshing flavour is from a combination of fresh oranges, coriander and exotic Grains of Paradise. These were a common ingredient in 18th century beers and used as a substitute for pepper which at the time was heavily taxed.

Bottle from brewery. Appearance - golden with a quickly disappearing head. Nose - honeyed cereal with perhaps some lemon. Taste - more sugar puffs and lemon on the end. Palate - light to medium bodied with a tangy texture and a relatively dry finish. Overall - a generally solid if unexciting beer.

Bottle from Fosse Asda. Slim-topped pale gold. Grass, lime and dried apricot aroma. Surprisingly decent on top of a Punk ; buttered wicker, lemon and grass, brittle biscuit and minerals. Citric mid-bitter finish with mandarin suggestions. Decent. When I expected a synthetic perfumed mess.

Bottle. Golden with a white foam. Aromas are cereal with light lemon and some green apple. Candy sugar with floral notes. Flavours are crisp lemon with grain and hints of caramel. over carbonated with a dry, dusty finish. Forgettable.

Cask (Kitty’s, Helsinki)
Very pale, small loose head. Sweetish aroma, but there’s very little there. Watery mouthfeel. Not much in the mouth either, except some scented soap and raw grains. Leaves a fairly raw and yeasty finish. Not doing it for me, like many a golden.
