500ml Bottle. This pours a tightly laced medium head of medium duration: slightly off white over a light golden body. Its aroma is weak but of citrus fruits and honey with a slight malt biscuit undertone. It tastes malty with a medium blast of orange before edging towards a hoppy bitter finish but that is surpassed by a sweet honey end. A decent enough honey ale this - not sure its a blond in anything else but colour tho.

Cask. Aroma of honeyed malt and grapefruit. Pours golden brown with lace top. There is a pleasing mix on the tongue of bread, citrus fruit and medicinal herbs. Full bodied on the palate with great dry finish on the palate. One to savour

Cask at The Green Dragon, Leek (JDW) A clear deep golden colour with a creamy white head. Aroma of honey, some caramel, slight grapefruit and medicinal, herbal hops. Taste of honey, caramel, slight red berries, grapefruit, some orange pith, a little biscuit, maybe some cream and subtle grassy, herbal hops. Medium bodied and soft carbonation. A dry, citrusy bitterness. Tastes more like a English IPA than a golden ale. Not very hoppy but really smooth. Not exciting but good.

Malt heavy aroma , with a thin malt taste, doesn’t drink like a golden ale, rather heavy tasting.

Sadly a bit irrelevant in this day and age. Reminds me of a 90’s ’real ale’ in that it is infinitely better than pub lager but lacking and watery and certainly not a patch on the new school craft ales available.

Understandably popular. Particularly palatable with a finish to die for. Let’s get this on tap everywhere please!

Really tasty beer in bottle and cask. Easy drinking, doesn’t seem like a 5.5%.

Beautiful, good strong alcohols, lovely hoppy flavour. Not my favourite Springhead, but damn close.

Bottle from Waitrose. Pours deep gold, hazy almost amber. medium to high carbonation. Aroma of toffee, caramel, honey, citrus and some nuttiness. Taste of initial toffee, caramel, toasted malts, then some honey sweetness, raisins and some nuttiness. Then come light hops with lemon and orange citrus flavours. Nice.
