Cask at the Stafford Arms, Bagnall, Staffs. A pale amber pour with a thick white head; lemony citrus aroma; sharp grapefruit taste; and a crisp finish. Rather fuller bodied, and with more flavour than most summery golden ales.

4th July 2015: hand-pulled cask pint at The Great Western, Wolverhampton. Another golden beer with a citrus bent. Light golden pour, with a full white crown. Lemon aroma and taste: fed up with them. Scored objectively.

First tasted this in the Three Judges, Glasgow in September 2004. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear pale gold in colour with a thin white head. Elderflowers give a fragrant note to the short aroma. Thin refreshing mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malt gives a digestive biscuit base with juicy clemantine fruit and elderflower cordial. Strong hop prickle detected in the dusty, floral, resiny aftertaste. Finish is sweet with warming golden syrup flavours rolling in the mouth. An excellent session Golden Ale and it reminded me of Badger Golden Best in taste. Well recommended.

Cask @ Volunteer Arms, GBBF 2008. Pours a hazy pale golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty and slightly hoppy aroma. Sweetish fruity flavor with some hints of hops and a slightly thin mouthfeel. Has a sweetish fruity finish with some hoppy hints.

Cask handpump at The Green Dragon, Cambridge. Gold with a foamy head. Citrus, hoppy scent. A bit thin and slightly carbonated. Some stickiness from sugars in the mouthfeel, presumably being the sweet lips. A bitter, dry end makes it well balanced. In the mouth: hops, biscuit malts and a hint of clementines, before a slightly roasted end.

Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Gold. Citric hop aroma. Taste is sweet and fruity, maybe peach. Slight bitterness. Gentle, subtle and rather good.
