Sampled on tap at Square One on 01/12. Pours a cloudy orange color with white head. Banana, clove, yeasty flavors. Tastes a bit like a homebrew, but my favorite beer on our visit to Square One.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 seymour (1099) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - FEB 1, 2013
Sampled on tap at the 2nd annual Urban Chestnut Wolpertinger party in a dimple mug. It poured a very cloudy golden color with fluffy foam and sticky lace. Excellent appearance. True-to-style weizen aromas, too, with extra banana ester the way I like it best. Flavor was grainy, almost nutty, with that nice whole-wheat-bread mouthfeel. Very, very tasty. I even got a second pour, one of my favorites of the day.

Pour is a cloudy orange with a nice white head. Aroma is a nice bubblegum, clovey wheat. Flavor is some wheat and clove but well below the aroma. The aroma off this was great and eveything a hefe should be but the flavor was kinda watery.

Tap @ Square One. Pours a milky, yellow orange appearance with an off white head. Goopy, chewy yeasty, bready/grainy, lightly fruity, lemon nose. The flavor really wasn’t very appetizing with notes of bread, yeast, lemon, caramel, and grass. As a big fan of German Hefeweizens, this was a big let down.

Draft in a sampler at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy, dull gold color with a small white head that leaves some lace. Aroma of banana, clove, sweet malts, wheat, dough, corn flakes, and citrus. Flavor is basically the same- banana, clove, wheat, cereal, bread, citrus- with straw and some other sweet fruitiness. Very slight spice in the nose and flavor. Medium-bodied, with a dry, sweet mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. A more ’American’ take on the style but really, really nice.

[Tap] Pours a cloudy yellow color with a nice looking white head. Typical clove, wheat malt and light banana in the aroma. The taste is of wheat, grains, clove, lemon and banana. Good mouthfeel and refreshingly creamy palate. Lively carbonation and lingering sweet and malty finish. Well crafted and pretty true to style.
