3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sample at the brewpub: Mostly clear golden color with a thin ivory-colored headr that dissipates right off the bat. Spotty lacing. Fruit and earthy malt in the nose. Medium-bodied with a clean mouthfeel and mildly spiced hops, fruit and malt flavor. The finish maintains the clean character and is moderately hoppy at first with a sweet aftertaste. Above average overall.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tasted at St. Louis BrewFest, May 12, 2007.
A Munchner Helles is a rather simple beer, and many breweries either think it is synonomous with "light" beer or they over-do it with too much citris/spicy hops. I’ve been to Munich and had it straight from their breweries, and this brew from Square One seemed just right. Nice clean aroma and appearance, with the simple flavor that results from a good Helles. Above average.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours golden and clear with a tight white head. The aroma has light grain and clean pale malt. Medium body with some semi-sharp carbonation. The flavor starts out with clean malt that is pale and very similar to a pils. There is also some light spice and some light sourness. The finish has a fully creamy (for the style) malt presence and a good amount of spicy hops. A decent beer and a good showing for the style from Square One.
