2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Tap @ Square One. Pours a dark orangish brown appearance with a disappearing white head. Caramel, toasted malty, herbal, a bit smoky aroma. Fairly herbal, smoked, burnt caramel, a bit earthy flavor. Really just not my style, but I had a hard time drinking it.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
October 30, 2012 on tap at brewpub. Clear light brown pour with head that faded quickly. Aroma was malty and caramel . Taste was consistent with a slight spicy bitterness in the finish but almost too sweet for me.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
on tap at brewpub Good coloring. Not sweet at all. A definite spike in the bittering, doughy, peaty, quick crisp finish, although some tannic qualities linger on. Not ale-y enough, but well-balanced and very drinkable., I expected it to get a little bit more caramel as it warmed, but it didn’t. This almost reminds me of an alt. Good, drinkable, but just mildly Scottish.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Slightly sweet aroma with amber appearance and thin head. Malty taste with caramel finish. Notes of scotch with subtle woody flavor. Smooth finish. Overall a delicious beer and goes very well with the Square One on-site distilled whiskey served neat on the side.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampler at the brewpub. The pour is a dark brown with a tan head. Flavor is again more malty but not any smokiness or toffee. Just a heavy malted brew. Not bad if you like Scotch Ales.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours clear red with slightly off white head. Aroma has slight notes of smoke, some burnt malt, nuts, and earth to balance out the rich caramel and toffee. Taste is a bit thin, but has some notes of smoke and earth, caramel, finishing sweet.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sampled at GABF on 9/18/2010. This Scotch Ale pours a medium amber brown color from the tap. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel and sweet, bready and smoky. A medium bodied Scotch Ale. The malts are caramel, fruity and sweet. The hops are earthy. Nice carbonation. Nice Scotch Ale, hints of peat and smoke, with not a lot of sweetness. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
