3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 TBone (9999) - Pori, FINLAND - MAY 15, 2009
Draught@HBF2009.
Ruby red color, small off-white head. Very, very toffeish aroma. Toffee, sour milk, fudge in the flavor. Tiny hops in the aftertaste. Probably quite close to Scotch ale, but not something I would like to drink in large quantities.

Keg (HBF2009)
Sheep farm aroma. Rich red, small head. Massively milky sweet maltiness, some grains, toffee ice cream (spotted by Alex, thanks, and so obvious in retrospect). Adequate, but not grabbing me.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 BeerandBlues2 (7418) - Hanover, Maryland, USA - JUL 25, 2008
Draught at Square One. Pours clear tawny with a small, fizzy, off-white head, mostly diminishing with spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, caramel, nutty), light hops (flowers), average yeast (earth) with notes of light alcohol and honey. Medium bodied, creamy texture, soft carbonation, and a chalky finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness.

On tap at Square One. Poured a crystal clear coppery amber with a short-lived off-white head. Aroma picked up a sweet bouquet of darker fruits with well-toasted caramel and toffee.. faint smoky accents work well to make this enjoyable. The flavor found plums and other dark fruits first with plenty of toasted caramel behind.. very malty throughout with mild bitterness.. faint smoky accents don’t play much of a role. Medium carbonation provides a creamy middle.. increasing bitterness toward the back.. nice feel overall, but too grainy as it slid off the palate.

Tap @ Square One. Pours a dark orangish brown appearance with a disappearing white head. Caramel, toasted malty, herbal, a bit smoky aroma. Fairly herbal, smoked, burnt caramel, a bit earthy flavor. Really just not my style, but I had a hard time drinking it.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Dogbrick (6065) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - AUG 29, 2007
Draught at the brewpub: Maybe my expectations were too high based on this style being one of my favorites and not a typical offering at a brewpub. Also, Square One seemed to be above the watermark with all the beers I had sampled before ordering a pint of this. The beer pours a pretty brownish-amber color with a foamy tan head that disappears from the center outward. Thin rings of lacing. The aroma contains malt, sherry and cough medicine. Medium-bodied and very malty with alcohol beneath the surface all along. Some smoked peat and fruit flavor as well. The flavor seems to be going in a lot of different directions and is simply not very cohesive. The finish is sweet and earthy malt and fruits. The beer is just average overall.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 beerguy101 (5206) - Newark, California, USA - OCT 23, 2010
Sampled at GABF on 9/18/2010. This Scotch Ale pours a medium amber brown color from the tap. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel and sweet, bready and smoky. A medium bodied Scotch Ale. The malts are caramel, fruity and sweet. The hops are earthy. Nice carbonation. Nice Scotch Ale, hints of peat and smoke, with not a lot of sweetness. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
