3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 CLevar (373) - Minnesota, USA - DEC 21, 2012Bottle from dallas, thanks man! Very dark brown pour, quickly fading lacing. Barrel presence is quite forward, lots of caramel, booze, brown sugar. Taste is sorta muddled, with the base beer trying to peek through but being blasted back by the barrel. Finishes slightly thin. I really enjoy the base beer, and feel that this one could have benefited by letting it shine through a bit more. Not bad by any means, but nothing mind blowing here.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 ksurkin (1021) - Norfolk, Virginia, USA - MAR 27, 2013
UPDATED: MAR 29, 2013 750ml bottle, via trade, aged for about a year. pours a dense, hazy, black that sits opaque in the glass capped by a thin, dark mocha head that leaves oily rings of lace on the glass. aroma is excellent, pretty unique, with heavy roasted malts, fresh liquorice, baker’s chocolate, and graham crackers backed by toasted rye bread, subtle whiskey, molasses, and hints of ash. flavor is excellent as well with rich dark fruit notes of prunes, figs, and merlot backed by sweet toffee, chocolate malts, and rye toast with honey followed by smooth, spicy, rye whiskey notes on the finish. palate is on the richer end of medium bodied with light carbonation and a lingering, warming finish. this actualy reminds me a bit of Berserker which is never a bad thing. overall, a damn nice barrel aged imperial stout.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 McNeillR (249) - SCOTLAND - MAR 11, 2013
Smooth chocolate nose and swarthy brown head with a gleam in the light. Dashes of dark chocolate the initial taste, a good palate coating of milky malt evened out by a charred backbone and moreish imperial bitterness. The palate eventually leans itself to a black and white ’aged imperial’ side of things. Really need sweet alcohol burn on the finish, like boozy Coco-Pops.
Extremely moreish from start to finish - just left of center for an imperial in the right places, really engaging initially and curveball sweet milkiness throughout with the booze burn in the shadows. Superb.

Bottle shared by badnewsbeers. Deep opaque brown body with garnet highlights, medium dense tan head. Inky nose with huge roast and hints of smoke. Roasty body, rather dry with coffee beans, chocolate liqueur, and some syrupy dark fruit/plum. Good, but not too exciting.
