French Connection is a traditional pale ale that uses a unique hop. We are fortunate to have the opportunity to craft a beer with an experimental variety provided by our friends at Washington State University. This hop has been selected from a cross of a female Alsace (a French variety) with a male selected from a cross of Cascade and Cluster (American varieties). This is the only commercial beer that has been brewed with this novel hop. Earthy, fruity and spicy, with just enough bitterness to balance out this light pale ale.

Pours a hazy amber (just like Full Suspension). The nose is fruity with some berries and citrus. Starts with a good grainy malt presence, hops are floral, grassy & earthy. The finish has hints of berries. Very drinkable, has no hints of its Full Suspension beginnings.

Floral, fruity hop aroma and flavor. Cant put my finger on any specific fruit(s)--but its unique relative to other hops. Really good hop character... Nicely complemented with the Full Suspension bread/bread crust malt flavor.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear copper color with a large white head. A rich nose of perfume and floral hops. The flavor is excellent: rich fruity hops, more perfume, light citrus, biscuit. Really flavorful for a low gravity pale. Clean and tasty.

On tap at Squatters downtown
Appearance: Cloudy golden/amber with a medium sized off-white head that dissipates to a small ring leaving some lacing in the glass
Aroma: Floral, berries (raspberries?) and citrus
Taste: Floral, mild caramel, grainy, grassy with mild grapefruit bitterness in the finish
This is a nice beer. The hop used has a nice aroma and flavors that are unique. Hope to see more beers with this hop in the future.
